Looks like my Uncle Harry five minutes before he died.
Wolf eels are cute and quite friendly if given a chance -- just ask any local diver. They settle into a particular hole as a home, and they're quite long-lived and monogamous, so you can find the same pair in the same place for years, and the ones that live in popular dive spots have become quite habituated to divers. Their eyesight isn't good, so if you're hand feeding them you have to make sure they don't mistake a finger for food, but otherwise they're quite docile and among the most gregarious of our local wildlife. Photogenic, however, they are not.
If you want ugly/scary, look here (or just google "angler fish" -- ECB might be particularly interested in this one).
