Today In Flânerie
The boy and the balloon between plain pillars can found on 14th and Union on a house that has no future:
This lovely grass glove is on the sidewalk near 20th and Jackson:
Does the grass glove have a partner? Is there another one in the world? What’s more lovely than one grass glove is two grass gloves. Check out the extra green thumb.
Finally, from Leaves of Grass: “A leaf of grass is no less than the journey-work of the stars.”

What is it with you and finding grassy things on the sidewalk?
Posted by monkey | April 5, 2007 3:51 PMCharles, you're my favorite flaneur. Merci.
Posted by anarkallisti | April 5, 2007 4:45 PMThe fencing came off the project at 14th and Union yesterday - the wrecking ball can't be far behind. RIP Four Angels cafe (and its earlier/later incarnations) and the Junk Shop. Hello next upscale monstrosity to invade Squire Park.......
Posted by genevieve | April 5, 2007 4:49 PMI don't think you can be a flaneur in the 21st century. It's like how you can't be a hippy in the 21st century either. Hippies, flaneurs--they had a specific era, which is over. That's not to say that the habits or behaviors don't still exist, but you just can't actually BE a flaneur, cause you aren't in Paris, it's not 18-something or other, etc., etc.
Just my opinion.

Posted by Jennifer | April 5, 2007 7:03 PMSounds like a nice thing to be.
While I was walking to work this morning I saw you, Charles Mudede, walking up Yesler.
Posted by Enigma | April 5, 2007 8:27 PMYou might have thought I was staring at you, and I was, but I was just trying to see if it was you.
If you were not walking up Yesler this morning, you have a double somewhere in the city.
