Doesn't Josh sound like Howard Cosell? If we could just get him to climb in bed with Woody Allen. Looking into "woody's" crystal balls, he predicts the future and realizes he makes asinine statements to make himself sound intelligent. Because people, we need someone to tell us:

(faux John McLaughlin voice)
It’s not clear what Edwards, who may be caught up in the Davis scandal as well, is going to do.

Get close up to the balls, Josh. Lick 'em if you have to. Maybe you'll grow some yourself.

"U.S. Representative Slade Gorton ($1,000)"

What district did Senator Gorton represent? If you all repeat it enough maybe it will become true.

Go Alec!

I met Gael Tarleton a week or two ago, and she is a very impressive candidate - smart, dedicated, with a public- and private-sector resume and a good sense of the Port's role in our economy and environment.

That's good to hear. Just because I want the current corrupt and incompetent boobs like Pat Davis out of there doesn't mean I want some flaming nitwit from the left in her place, or Edwards's place. The Port is an important business resource.

If Davis were forced out, the remaining Commissioners would elect an interim replacement -- who could then run for election in November to fill out the remainder of Davis's unexpired term (up for election again in 2009).

With three seats on the ballot rather than two, we might see some new entrants and some jockeying for position among the current contenders.

If there's an open seat, can Richard Pope be far behind?

Credit where credit is due: Noemie Maxwell at Washblog did the footwork on Bryant long before ECB stepped in. If you're going to talk about this race, I think Noemie's coverage needs to be a part of it.

Hey, Switzer - Suzie Sheary blasted it around in email first (and I think got spam-blocked for her trouble).

I had actually done the dig ahead of time, was ready to fire in response to Bryant's Obama message, when I got Sheary's email.
