That sounds amazing. Yay for PAM taking the lead where SAM and especially TAM fail miserably!

I'm not holding my breath. Yet. "Authoritative"? According to whom?

The list of NW artist-celebrities is so predictable (see: TAM Biennial) that I can already guess who will be short-listed. I wanna believe, I really do, that PAM can pull this off but first, yes, I'd love to see that list of nominators (who will likely also fall under the category of "predictable"). Kudos to Jen Gately and the PAM crew for making this move and leaning toward transparency.

Since when is Wyoming part of the usual "Northwest" designation? And why not Alaska for that matter? How many artists are there really in Idaho and Montana?

It will just be a Portland and Seattle show, with a smattering of token non-PDX/Seattle artists just to make it look "Northwest."

And it will be the usual suspects. oh well, at least they won't be bilking artists for money just for the humbling experience of being rejected.

we need more "Salon de Refusee" or however it is spelled in French!

Turner Prize is a whole lot of wank - the whole system and those involved are just part of another corporation in our capitalist society - it's revolved hugely around money and self centeredness - the likes of Douglas Gorden would do better off working direct for the Devil in advertising... and with the barriers down that have to guard these celebrefartists - he would shamelessly gleefully admit this - with the 1996th escort hanging off his arm that his status now pays for.
