City The Poor Man’s Yacht

Posted by on April 25 at 10:26 AM

On Sunday, the Elliott Bay Water Taxi resumes service between Pier 55 (at Spring Street) and Seacrest in West Seattle. File this idea away for the next time you have relatives in town—it’s $3 well spent on a sunny afternoon. At Seacrest, you’ll find a small park with a postcard view of the city, a walking path that leads to Alki, and a fish-n-chips place (but if you’re picky, the fried seafood at the Ivar’s fish bar at Pier 54 is better).

speaking of water. Where is the slog coverage of the water main break in seattle. There is brown water bubbling out of the toilets at my current place of employment. (!!!)

2

Also, the water taxi is $1 with Metro transfer and free with Metro passes.

Why doesn't Lake Union have a regular water taxi?

3

Amy Kate Horn must apologize to Slog readers for emboldening an Enemy of Slog.

4

The Water Taxi rules! Create your own booze cruise with a bottle of wine on the upper outdoor deck.

5

Yes; I'm sorry. I love Ivar's; apparently Slog does not feel the same way.

6

Amy - Actually your post compliments two enemies of the SLOG - Ivar's and Metro (Metro runs the Water Taxi).

7

Actually, Argosy runs the Water Taxi, Metro just pays the bills.

And it's the best way EVER to get from West Seattle to Downtown.

We need mosquito fleets of biodiesel powered passenger ferries on Elliott Bay, Lake Union, and Lake Washington, year round.

It would be VERY Seattle.

Why *is* Ivar's on the Slog shitlist, anyway?

10

I don't know what Ivar's ever did to us. I've just replaced it with wheat gluten.

11

Fuck Ivars.
Take your bike on the boat, bike down past Spuds to Sunfish and get some real fish n chips.

12

@2 - free if you have a Day Pass (which you buy on the bus).

Ivar's rules.

It's appalling to admit to having smelled someone's Chowder Onions stewing, but I've smelled Ivar'ziz too many times to count from his South Lake Union chimnuh.

Perhaps I'm not the only one?
