Jonah.
Are they paying you now? i.e. no longer an "unpaid intern."
If so, congratulations!

I'm not up on my Marvel lore (I'm a DC man), but I believe without the Iron Man suit he is a quadriplegic.

He's also rich, so why is he drinking Canadian Whiskey?

@ David Sucher-
They are and thanks!

@El Swinger- geeeez dude you need to bone up on your Marvel:
Tony Stark, bajillionaire industrialist, was visiting a war torn country (Iraq, Vietnam, etc depending on the era of continuity) and he was hit by shrapnel which lodged in his heart. The suit (somehow) keeps him alive. Also in the Ultimate universe he has a brain tumor instead of a heart condition.

Like I said, I'm not up on my Marvel lore. Besides, Marvel and DC keep rewriting origin stories so often it was an easy and honest mistake. (And Batman could kick Captain America's ass!)

The magnetic field generated by the suit's chest plate keeps the shrapnel from moving closer to his heart.

almost.

It took me awhile to get into the whole Robert Downey Jr./Tony Stark thing but I think it was probably a smart casting choice. Jon Favreau directing? Eh.

And Elswinger- Batman could tooootally kick Captain America's ass. He beat up Superman for chrissakes!

There is nothing more illogical than Batman beating up Superman.

Yes, but can Robin kick Super Boy's ass?

And can I watch?

@8:

Could have been worse. Cruise was interested in the project for a while - to the point that Adi Granov used him as a model for Stark in the "Extremis" mini a couple of years back.

Actually, Iron Man USED to be an alcoholic. He recovered sometime in the mid-'90s, but relapses when the shit really hits the fan. Not often, thankfully, but enough to make it believable and tragic. He's actually one of the best-written characters Marvel has.

That's why the casting of the new clean-n'-sober Robert Downey, Jr. was inspired casting. It's going to be an awesome film.

I just like that Iron Man trumps all other daily news.

@16: I don't! I want to read thoughts on police arresting a student for the contents of an essay he turned in as homework. That the student happens to be of Chinese heritage is hard to overlook. He wasn't just referred to a counselor because a teacher was worried, he was reported to police and arrested for an essay that admittedly targets no specific people or places. Isn't this a big deal? Anyone?

i heard about that little chinese boy getting arrested. I am putting on my shiny iron underwear right now and guzzling some whisky. I am going to stumble drunkenly around figuring out how to rescue him.....
