re: sonics arena. there was something kinda like this in san francisco about 10 yrs. ago. mayor willie "machine" brown wanted a 49ers stadium built in the bayview neighborhood in conjunction with the sleazy developer eddie debartolo, but the voters were clearly against it. so what does our esteemed mayor do? why, he keeps the polls open FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK (note: illegally) only in the part of town that supported it--the bayview, the poorest, most afro-american part of town. and it squeaked by, and he never got so much as censured for it. the only thing that stopped the stadium from being built was debartolo getting busted by the feds for racketeering in luisianna soon after. politicians think they can steamroller right over the voters because--they can!

Are we done talking about Imus and 'nappy-headed hoes' now that black leaders in the vein of Bill Cosby have come out against the black community, namely sports stars and rappers, for proliferating the misogyny?

I mean, was anybody aware of the Nelly brouhaha in Atlanta a few years ago? The article mentions women at a Atlanta college who were upset by a Nelly video and challenged(Nelly declined) his offer to raise money for his ailing sister on their campus. For me, with all due respect to women ('can't live with em, can't live without em' is about as crass as i get) the absolute hilarious image of the day is in this sentence "... his song "Tip Drill," in which he cavorts with strippers and swipes a credit card between one woman's buttocks."
