That Gig Harbor story is really sad. What about the school's responsibility to protect the kids? Those girls thought they were safe to have a normal high school relationship at school without having their (overly controlling?) parents notified. What if the parents had flipped out and beat or locked the girl away in a gay "rehab" facility? The school could have put that girl in danger by sharing that video with the parents. It's every homo's choice as to how and when they come out to their parents.

RE: the Gig Harbor story. I'm divided on this.

On the one hand, I'm guessing the security camera is in plain sight. If so, why the fuck were they kissing in front of the camera. Sure, sure, highschool kids kiss. But it is against the school rules in most highschools, regardless of orientation, and kissing in front of a camera seems pretty stupid. Surely there was somewhere in the school they could kiss where they wouldn't be right in front of a camera. (If the camera was hidden, then ignore this whole argument.)

On the other hand, WTF! "They're paying good money for us to make their kids good citizens," says the dean of the high school. A public highschool. He still maintains he was right to show the parents the video. This is his idea of good citizenship?!? Unless he shows videos to every parent of every straight kid that kisses on tape (which probably happens a dozen times a day), he's a fucking hypocrite, and is blatantly discriminating against gay students. He should be fired immediately. These girls are 17. If I were them, the day I turn 18, I'd sue the shit out of the dean and the school district (theoretically, their parents could, but they seem more concerned with separating their precious darlings than protecting their kids from discrimination - nice). Fuckers.

I blame television. I have never seen a TV show set in a high school where there wasn't any kissing.

um i think this gig harbor situation deserves some more attention. at least as much as the stupid stellina controversy.

i mean her parents didnt just send her to "another school" they send her away to a fucking gay reparative therapy camp. because the principal was asked by her parents to keep an eye out on her and he was determined to help the parents who said "we found instances and evidence of potential homosexual activity going on, and we feel it is an abomination" before admitting that he sent his daughter of to ex-gay school for 6weeks to 6months.

The principal says "They're paying good money for us to make their kids good citizens...whatever that means to the parents, I'll do it."

what the fuck? where is the outrage? this is in our own backyard.

good news for gays, my ass.
