Slightly Unnerving

According to The Guardian, the US offered to help out Britain’s hostages with some old-fashioned military showmanship in Iranian airspace. Smart thinking, dudes. ‘Cause Iran has no idea whatsoever how thin our military is stretched.

As a Brit all I can say is i think our best course of action wouyld be to quietly move all our people out of the area and then cease trying to persuade America not to bomb then. See how they like that.

It seems of the handy benefits of the troop surge/escalation/"hanging around until the job is done" is it encourages the same leaders who didn't listen to their military advisors in 2003 about the troop levels necessary to accomplish their stated goals to seriously consider the possibility of opening up an Iranian front. I mean, should the pretext, er, necessity of doing so present itself.

It must have been threats to send the Blue Angeles to rattle teacups that got the limeys out. The released Iranian diplomat the next day was just a coincedence.

Yes! I love this! Annie Wagner on military strategy! That's right up there with Jesse Helms defining the differences between pornography and art.

What's next? A Hood DVD with Sanjaya running around kufi smacking rap celebrities?

What's next Bumpy? Dan Savage is going to be locker room motivator for the M's.

That's gold! Stranger writers switching topics to give their tired well-worn departments some life! Sure it may confuse the loyal readership and sour the Critically Acclaimed blog... yeah, too fun of an idea, march on sycophants.

The Guardian actually had several interesting pieces relating to this yesterday. The thing that struck me the most was that Blair's response to the US was "you can help the situation by staying out of it."

Am I the only one violently confused by the phrase "The game was not worth the candle?"

The worse part was listening to Tucker Carlson calling the Brits weak for giving in to the Iranians so easily... Like Tucker and his white pasty body would survive a second living under any duress. Which lead me to e-mail his show asking why he does not enlist and show those troops how to deal with being a hostage.
