Jesus Christ. If Seattle has one defining characteristic, it’s the inability to reach anything approaching consensus on any issue, no matter how large or trivial.

If you want true meaning and symbolism, move the parade to the viaduct.

the image currently lodged in my head is that seattle seems to look at everything as a staircase and then ask "how are we going to get up the first step?"

No, the first step is to ask how will we fund the committee that will decide how to approach ascending the first step.

and then have community action plans about it, several meetings, a counter petition and proposal, more community meeting, a protest march, a worthless city wide vote and then decide that first step is just to high.

The real problem is that No self respecting gay person would be caught at a community meeting, I know, I was the only community member that attended for months on end when all this move came down, the rest of you were at home and couldn't be bothered.
