Re: The Best Show on Television

This just in: Tommy Thompson pays the Jewish people a compliment—and you know how those people just love getting paid!

Former Wisconsin governor and Republican presidential hopeful Tommy Thompson told Jewish activists Monday that making money is “part of the Jewish tradition,” and something that he applauded.

Speaking to an audience at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism in Washington D.C., Thompson said that, “I’m in the private sector and for the first time in my life I’m earning money. You know that’s sort of part of the Jewish tradition and I do not find anything wrong with that.”

Thompson later apologized for the comments that had caused a stir in the audience, saying that he had meant it as a compliment, and had only wanted to highlight the “accomplishments” of the Jewish religion.

Didn’t I tell you? The race for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination is the best damn show on television. Hilarious! Oh, and Thompson’s attempts to apologize? Almost as hilarious as his initial comments…

“I just want to clarify something because I didn’t [by] any means want to infer or imply anything about Jews and finances and things,” he said. “What I was referring to, ladies and gentlemen, is the accomplishments of the Jewish religion. You’ve been outstanding business people and I compliment you for that.”

Making money = the accomplishments of the Jewish religion. Man, it’s like Borat is running for president or something.

Gee thanks, Tommy Thompson, you racist dim wit.

Oh, and by the way, working at the Stranger pays bank.

Yes, and I think their horns are really quite handsome once you get used to them, don't you?

Jesus.. It's like these idiots just woke up from a 200 year nap and decided to run for president. "President, huh? Sounds interesting! What's involved?"

My cat has more political sense.

"What's involved?" Hilarious.

I let the bank balance my checkbook. I am not a credit to my "religion", apparently.

Well, he knows that our overlords among the Elders of Zion will help him win if he compliments us enough.

I can hardly wait for Tommy Thompson to thank the Jews for killing Christ. You know, because if they were not Christ killers, he never would have been our saviour.

And I am sure Thompson will bring up how sexy the huge Jewish nose is too.

You know what, the more I hear the GOP candidates I just want to laugh and then cry. Remember how we all laughed at George Bush in 2000? Oh yeah, that was really funny stuff. I mean "How could he manage to be the president?"

Yeah, but if you really want to find an anti-Semitic (former) presidential candidate, you need to find a leader in the black community like, oh, say Jessie Jackson who has said that Nixon was less attentive to poverty in the U.S. because "four out of five [of Nixon's top advisors] are German Jews and their priorities are on Europe and Asia"; that he was "sick and tired of hearing about the Holocaust"; that there are "very few Jewish reporters that have the capacity to be objective about Arab affairs"; and of course referred to Jews as "Hymies" and to New York City as "Hymietown" in January 1984 during a conversation with Washington Post reporter, Milton Coleman. Whitey just don’t do Jew hate like that any more.

Yeah, Jessie Jackson can be a lame-o sometimes. At least he actually apologized for his 1984 comment (which was later beautifully parodied by Eddie Murphy in SNL) instead of digging himself further into the ground like this Tommy Thompson guy.

Jesse Jackson is a prong, and everyone with any sense knows it. He's also not a candidate for President, and never was a serious one. Ditto Al Sharpton. The comparison to Thompson is meaningless, typical right-wing "yabbut, yabbut" nonsense.

I can't wait to hear Thompson speak out on those other demons of the Klan, the Catholics.
