O They Will Know We Are Christians By Our…

sexual hypocrisy.

A conservative Episcopal priest who helped lead a 2004 revolt against the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles over homosexuality has resigned as rector of a Newport Beach church after a female parishioner complained about unwanted attention from the married clergyman.

The Rev. Praveen Bunyan, who ministered at St. James Church, resigned last week after confessing to “inappropriate conduct” with the woman, said church spokeswoman Karen Bro. Church officials declined to identify the woman, but another priest said there was no sexual contact involved.

I love how there is never any sexual contact involved in these stories.

They're so good at lying (to themselves and their people). They just do it, and vwala, they still have their sheep behind them.

Dan, I love ya, and the point you're making with these "O They Will Know" posts is well-taken.

But maybe it's getting a little old.

Religious/Philosophical hypocrisy... Yeah because atheists never do anything wrong! Yippie! I'm so much better then you!

Seriously though: it's kind of what you get for claiming any kind of moral supremacy. Anyone who does ends up months later exposed. Everybody is fucked up... except for Ralph Nader who's never done anything wrong in his life. :)

Or they will know you are gay by your fucked up domestic violence outbursts? Or your barebacking? Or your NAMBLA-ing?

What the fuck, Dan? Lately it seems like you spend half your time on Slog talking shit about people with religious convictions. Well hey, guess what; every community has ideals that individual members of the community violate. It happens.

Harping on it endlessly just makes you sound like another fucking bigot.

There is nothing wrong with being bigoted towards bigots. Hell, that's the only bigotry I would personally justify.

Also, relax. You're on Slog.

Yeah, there is something wrong with "being bigoted toward bigots." Because, for one thing, if you're bigoted towards bigots, then you're a bigot and people get to be bigoted toward you. Then everyone gets to be bigoted toward those people and, before you know it, bigotry is fine the world over because everyone has it coming. Which is how all those models work; all bigots believe the people they're bigoted against have it coming, you dumbfuck. It's not like they're out there twirling their mustaches and talking about their evil plans for world domination; they honestly believe queers or black people or women or whoever are pederasts , thieves or sluts-- or whatever. So if you don't create and enforce social dicta against certain behaviors regardless of who's on the receiving end, alternative rule sets with more limited scope lack moral authority because they're clearly only there to serve the interests of a certain group-- and are therefore difficult or impossible to enforce because they're (rightly) equated with the self-interest of a group rather than a societal moral standard.

Duh.
