Pop culture is all about capturing the imagination of the masses, and Sanjaya has done that. It's somewhat of a turning-of-the-tables on those of you who think you're zooming the system by keeping him in. In reality, you're doing exactly what the masses have always done relative to pop icons.

To the point that she has little soul? I'd likely agree with you. But, still, there's no point to dismissing her as meaningless.

Art is subjective, no matte how hard hipsters try to pretend otherwise. Musical taste can turn on so many factors; irony, history, memory, emotions, theory, sex, etc. If you don't have at least a couple of songs in your collection from nearly every genre, you've likely artificially limited yourself too narrowly.

...but, to let American Idol get you down? You need to relax. :-)
