At Large Never Mind Outdoor Drinking (For Now)

Posted by on April 6 at 8:45 AM

Amy has the outdoor drinking question covered. But of more immediate concern: The next eight work hours.

Forecasters predict a high of 76 degrees today. Where can I best position myself to check this prediction?

Location must have: Strong and free wireless signal, available power outlet nearby for recharging laptop, eye-candy, and sun (but not so much glare that I can’t see my screen every once in a while).

1

Eli, couldn't you technically find some eye candy on the laptop whilst you're out and about?

Just saying.

2

That pic is OLD. Any guess how old that lap top is???

3

And yes the man is using a modern-day (you know, as opposed to mid-19th century cell phones, wtf am I saying?) cell phone.

4

Is that Brad in that picture?

5

Try Pete's in Fremont, good corner, sunny, lots of cute boys-n-girls with their doggies.

6

God I hate you right now... what I wouldn't give to break free of my white collar bondage.

Stayed up until 4 last night, went to work at 8, and all day I get to experience the sunshine out of the window beside my desk. I'm like the stereotypical kid daydreaming in Math class.

7

Hey at least you have a window, Colin.

8

Isn't there a deck above the War Room? Does it get a WiFi signal from somewhere (given all the unsecured access points on the Hill, I'm betting it would)

9

That pic is boss. BOSS. It's totally my new myspace pic.

10

Not if I steal it for myspace first, Boss. High Five!

11

I agree with the recommendation for Pete's - and right next door is the former Bagel Oasis, they have drinks too.

12

Try a college campus. I know BCC is looking mighty inviting with all those spots of lawn in the sun right now.

13

I have a spot I love for this sort of thing, but I'm not telling. There's too much competition for space as it is.

14

San Diego. Any day, any time.

15

what a shame that people like eli will be plugged into their wifi devices on this beautiful day. what happened to actual human contact and conversation?

16

@15: As Eli states, he is looking for an outside location in which to spend his work day. He's not avoiding human conversation, he's reconciling his desire to be outside in the sun with his dedication to his job.

17

@12

UW has lots of outdoor wifi, but it's limited to people with campus netids. Maybe one of the city's pilot free wifi zones is a better bet, though they're pretty spotty too.

18

Lots of people sitting in front of Top Pot today. Don't know about the eye-candy potential, though. It's never been particularly high when I've been there (but then again that's when I'm there, pulling down the average).

19

College Campus - well, the HUB has no Pub - although we could ask for one - a better place would be the wonderful place to get Margaritas down by the docks near the Foege building (you know, between the Med Center and the Cop Shop). Aqua Verde. You can probably get wireless there, most of the UW is ultra-wired.

20

Oh, and Norm's in Fremont is good too.

21

That 1991 piece of crap on his lap isn't getting any Wi-Fi anywhere. It's OK, though; no one wants to share his frigging Lotus 1-2-3 spreadsheet, anyways. And that's not a phone, it's a hairbrush.
