The best thing about the Gonzales hearings was the protester holding up a small chalk board counting each time he said "I don't recall". Eighty-some times if I remember right. What an asshate.

Finally a leader has spoken the truth. The U.S. is going to loose in Iraq. Get used to it folks. Just like after we lost in Vietnam life will go on. It will go on for more people if the U.S. gets out...today.

I can't believe Democrats keep playing into Republican rhetoric about "losing" the war in Iraq. We won the "war" phase of this misadventure about a month after it started. (The regimes in North Korea and Iran wouldn't last much longer.) Where we've failed, collosally and predictably, is in occupying and rebuilding Iraq.

Had Kerry been smart enough to emphasize this distinction, he may have even won in 2004.

Well at least Bush isn't flip flopping. Remember, candidate Bush told us in 2000—in a debate with Gore—that he wasn't so much into nation building.

The oblique reference in my comment one post below, The Port of Seattle, is about the film Bananas

It's a pretty funny clip of Woody's advertisement. Watching it, Allen's portrayal seems close to the sincerity of Feit's interest in NW politics. The bed scene with Cosell isn't included, but over halfway through, Cosell's bit resembles the squareness of Feit's approach. It's a BIG joke when Feit goes to Olympia to color comment the legislative boxing matches.

How will the troops feel when they hear congress say the war is lost? Petty fucking good if it means they can come home!
