McCain Reverses Himself

Trying to keep this…

…from becoming this…

…McCain is now saying this:

“Of course I am going to misspeak and I’ve done it on numerous occasions and I probably will do it in the future,” he told CBS correspondent Scott Pelley. “I regret that when I divert attention to something I said from my message, but you know, that’s just life.”

your sentence doesn't even make sense, old man. retire, don't aspire.

Translation: "I'm so old, I don't even know what the fuck I'm saying anymore, and if you're listening to me you're stupider than you look, which is going some, young fellow".

I love the picture of John McCain in his Edith Bunker Apron. He looks like a tired old drag queen who just took off her wig after a long, hot pride parade.

Hey, being really old and pretty vacant worked for Reagan -- even for a second term when Alzheimer's was clearly coring him like an apple.

Welcome to irrelevance, Senator McCain.

3rd place, and slipping fast...

Oh, that's perfect, Catalina. Absolutely perfect.

OK, I thought Bill Clinton had lost his title as world champion bullshitter when I read Sen. Orrin Hatch's lie to weasel out of the previous day's lie:

My comments about Carol Lam's record as a U.S. Attorney were accurate, but I misspoke when making the point of discussing politically connected U.S. Attorneys. I accidentally used her name, instead of her predecessor, Alan Bersin, who was appointed by President Bill Clinton.

But “I regret that when I divert attention to something I said from my message"?!?

That is just sweet. That takes the whole dang cake. No, your honor, I never purgered myself. I just let my words divert attention from my message.

What the fuck is this? Jesus Christ, how can he say this stuff? Firstly he says he felt safe walking around in the marketplace even though he left his kevlar helmet in the vehicle, presumably an armored HMMWV and he's wearing goddamned body armor. Even if we can't see the 100 or so troops who were staking the place out the fact that he feels that he has to wear body armor, and that they took a picture of him in it should tip him off that we know that he's full of shit. I mean seriously, when I go to Safeway I don't go with 100 guys with guns, I don't wear body armor and I don't have to wear a kevlar helmet. Shit, even if I go to the scary Albertson's in White Center I don't have to wear fucking body armor. Now if I told my friends "Hey, my neighborhood is so safe that I feel comfortable leaving my kevlar helmet in the car while I go shopping and only wear body armor" I think that my friends might tell me to fucking move or they might tell me that, I don't know, that I'm full of shit.

If Senator McCain feels so safe then he should take the fucking body armor off, that shit is hot and heavy (I speak from experience here) and really, if he feels all that safe he should ditch the escort, grab a vehicle from the motor pool and a local guide and go check the city out himself. What a total asshat! It's like John Stewart said, the Straight Talk Express is heading straight towards Bullshit City.

@ wile_e_quixote: It got worse. The SAME market was attacked the next day. Apparently for pandering to the Americans. The Bullshit express has blood on it's hands.

wile_e_quixote, don't forget about the 5 helicopter gunships hovering overhead the whole time too.

Yeah, perfectly safe.

Apparently, yesterday, 21 vendors from this market were executed. I'll try to find the link...

It's the dorky point that really did him in, if he had just avoided that it wouldn't have been so bad.

Be nice, people, John McCain is poised to be the Bob Dole of the 2008 election. The best thing that could happen is that he gets the Republican nod.

Sean -

I dunno, Newt is thinking about running and the NY Sun wants Cheney to get in the race. McCain, Cheney and Newt could make for a really fun primary for Democrats (assuming Hillary and Obama don't rip each other to shreds).
