I'm an atheist, but that video really makes me wish for an afterlife. In particular, an afterlife where I can watch all their perplexed faces as they get sent to hell for being hateful bastards.

looks like Charles Mansion has some new nutty recruits working his magic while he's behind bars. I wouldn't put it past that some of his minions who got released (or never caught) created this orginization.

My only consolation about the existence of these people is that their arc has a fairly obvious end to it. The further they go down this road, the more I see Branch Davidian or the Heavens Gate cult written all over them. They will eventually self-immolate and we won't have to be exposed to this nonsense anymore (from them, anyway).

O. M. F. G.

These people are FUCKING SICK. What happened to an all-loving God?!

Oh, I like how God (a 'he') hates the world (a 'she') - nothing like a good Baptist to put a woman in her place.

Nice touch w/ the upside-down Canadian flag, too. If I ever get the feeling the US is really turning into a nutty Jesusland, I will be heading north!

It's ironic that these 'Christians' happily twist the Old Testament's wrathful totalitarian message.

Relax, people. It's all a giant piece of performance art designed to mock the fanaticism of the religious right. We're all doomed - it's too late to change His mind - so it's time to stop sinning now, even though it's too late? Hilarious. This stuff is brilliant.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son" vs. "Thank God for dead miners".

These people are pure evil.

I assume you have seen Richard Dawkins' BBC special "The Root of All Evil". If not, it's well worth your time:

The gleeful commandeering of the melody from "Heal The World" is a little unnerving. I mean, isn't Michael Jackson sort of a prime target for these folks? I would hope there's some sort of lawsuit lurking here.

The most solid proof I have that there is no god is that these people haven't been obliterated by a lightning strike, a meteor, an angel with a fiery sword, or any other type of smiting.

Still... aren't we handing over a lot of media power to a thuggish, fascist church of at best 150 people, consisting of the inbred children of someone who is undoubtedly insane?

I kinda think the music was inspired by this:

Here's a thought: somebody should contact ASCAP or BMI or whomever owns the music to "We Are The World", and convince them to sue the Hell (pun intended) out of these morons for copyright infringement.

Let them try to argue "fair use" or parody; they'll get their fat, God-fearing asses handed to them on a stick by a veritable legion of lawyers, and the cost of defending themselves in court will probably be sufficient to bankrupt each and every one of them.

Would serve them right.

No people have done more to advance the cause of GLBT rights than Westboro Baptist Church: no rational person exposed to this stuff can sit on the fence any more, and when people come off the fence they almost *always* support gay rights. Plain and simple.

Ummmm - guys? Westboro Baptist Church is to real churches what the Onion is to real newspapers. It's satire, they've been doing it for a long time, and they're on your side. Relax, it's all good.

Woops, I meant Landover Baptist, NOT Westboro.
check'em out: http://www.landoverbaptist.org/

Westboro are the actual evil ones. All this religion confuses me.

If this was a parody it would be brilliant. I look into these people's faces and see those who would throw me and mine into ovens in a flat second without thinking twice.

Nah, look again. These are the gray-haired hippie moms you see at anti-war protests. Someone should get to the bottom of this.

#9 and #20 surely jest but just in case the point of their snickering is lost on someone
hell to the fucking naw..
do not relax. this is not satire, these people are not kidding, and this is as far from funny as you can get. they are not on your side. they mean every dark hearted word of it. it's possible that these are the most gleefully hate filled people on the planet and if you've ever seen them live and in person - they come here once a year or so and carefully plan their protest around pride weekend at st. marks or across the street from the eagle - you'd call it for what it is. and dan .. i honestly believe that they've been itching for the reprisal you ( and me and everyone we know ) not so secretly wish upon them. that somehow it will validate their message.
and like dan eveytime i encounter them.. words truly fail me

Totally agree with #9. Hilarious. Pick on people who are enjoying themselves, folks, that says a lot about you/us.

Today we're going to vigil for the Virginia Tech people.

A bit over a year ago, there was a conference of GLBT politicians in Seattle at the Convention Center. The Phelps gang showed up, bright signs in hand. Cops were on hand to keep anything from getting out of control.

You know what I loved about it? Pretty much everyone that was driving or walking past them were either ignoring them, laughing at them, or flipping them off. Even the cops were laughing at them (or trying desperately to keep a straight face). It was very heartening to see.

I was curious if this was a parody or the actual Westboro Baptist Church so I went to their website...yup, it's really them.

I love how even though they hate the gays, they always concentrate on the gays' sex life (the boys making out in the video...).

And yes, Dan, praying for them to die is sinful. But since we're already sinners and it's too late, I'll be praying right along with you

Wow! Looks like they are having the best fun they've had in their lives. I have gay friends that I love but always stop at the more intimate details of their lives just as I do with my straight friends. It is clear that these folks all have a closet obsession with gays. Too bad they can't just accept this interest rather than trying so strongly to deny it - they would probably have much more fun. Does make for some interesting viewing. I find these folks hard to take seriously (do they really think that GOD wants THEM to be his/her mouthpiece!!!). It is scary though to think that there are idiots that would rather focus on private activities between two adults than actually living moral & ethical lives and treating God's earth and people with care & respect. What a crappy cop out! They need to get off their lazy, self righteous butts and do something that actually makes a difference!

Has anyone ever looked into the child abuse element with WBC? From what I know they have a million kids, and while it is perfectly legal to teach your children any crap you want, I am sure these are not folks who "spare the rod" so to speak.

Pretty funny stuff. Too bad Warner music doesn't have a sense of humor. Warner forced youtube to delete all uploads of the video do to a copyright claim even though commercial videos whose rights belong to Warner are still up there.
