I can tell you this: Yesterday I was in a boat in the bay, right in front of the Olympic Sculpture Park, where the Needle loomed practically directly above me, and even with high-powered binoculars I STILL couldn't read that damned flag. It said "Seattle" something. It had been driving me nuts all week, but bobbing there in the sun-dappled waves, admiring the sparkling skyline, I let it go.

There's the same flag at the bus stop on Dexter and Denny. You can get up-close to it. I still have no idea what it was.

It just says "I am Seattle." I Googled it, some film contest the Space Needle is doing with SIFF. Or something.

As log as there is a rainbow flag during Pride Day and a Jolly Roger during Seafair I don't mind, though I hate the color orange.

I used to be Seattle, but then I stopped loving giant orange flags. Now I'm Lesser Seattle ...

Agreeing with #4: it's smarmy of landmarks to be sentient, especially when their thoughts are trite anyway.

But the Needle looked awesome that year it was painted orange...

Last weekend was Queen's Day in the Netherlands. Orange everywhere...

funny how last year the space needle corp refused to fly the Pride flag because they didn't want to "commercialize" the space needle... Oh how things change

WTF is commercial about the pride flag?

I seem to remember a 12th Man flag, a giant crab, and many other things flying above or hanging off the Space Needle.
