3,311. Oh, and the guy who sold the carpets to McCain's buddy was killed the next day, as were all the others in that market who talked to the Americans. McCain's got some very specific blood on his hands.

My only solace is that the assholes responsible will be villified as monsters and killers in the history books. A hundred years from now, people will be scorning the names of all these bastards. Children will use this time in history as a cautionary tale, an example of how "pre-emptive" war does not solve anything, and that it was a fallacy to begin with.

All Americans have blood on their hands. We will be the ones explaining oursleves, much like the WW2 German generation. My future grandkids will ask:

"Why did you let this happen? Why didn't you stop it."

And all I will be able to do is shake my head.

FNARF: Could you provide a link? Not that I doubt you. It seems perfectly plausible, likely even. It's just so mind-bogglingly awful that I want to read the story for myself. Killed for a photo op.

Here's the Dailykos diary with links to a couple stories mentioning the killings. 21 people from that market rounded up.
