A Little Good News

posted by on April 22 at 9:44 AM

Friends of Al Gore have secretly started assembling a campaign team in preparation for the former American vice-president to make a fresh bid for the White House.

Two members of Mr Gore’s staff from his unsuccessful attempt in 2000 say they have been approached to see if they would be available to work with him again.

Unless Hillary stumbles significantly, Gore will not run. He wants to keep a deference to the Clintons.

Gore's staff is very much denying this. not that means it isn't true but...

Is there a cutoff for when he really needs to be in it as far as fundraising goes?

Anyone who believed Al Gore when he said he had no interest in running is a fool. From the moment the movie was in production, it was about rebuilding image for an '08 run.

And still, no. One trick pony. Not interested.

Reminds me of a comment thread not long ago where I was mocked and dismissed for stating that of course Al Gore is going to run, it's his for the taking, and it was smart of him to bide his time.

Told you so!!!!

Gore/Obama 2008!
Gore/Obama 2012!
Obama/?? 2016!
Obama/?? 2020!

Gore/Clark - we need Clark to get a bigger % of the military vote - the rational part that knows iraq is fucked & we got to change cours.

Obama can take over in '16.

No more Clintons.

Gomez, what do you mean "one-trick pony"? That's his environmentalism, is it? If that's what you mean, I'd have to say that even if that were the case*, that is a pretty key goddamn trick. If that's not what you mean, I'm confused.

*And I think that's debatable. Just because he's extremely vocal and visible about environmentalism doesn't render him idea-less or ineffectual on other topics. Time just happens to be of the particular essence when it comes to global warming.

Yeah, Gore/Obama is my dream ticket at the moment. But there are some great alternatives. Relative embarrassment of riches, here.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

(re:Gore)

"Relative embarrassment of riches, here."

How so?

There's the continuation of the Clinton dynasty, a conservative Democrat (bad choice)
Just because she's a woman and nominally a Democrat, doesn't mean she's a good choice people.

Obama- overly religious and what does he have going for him other than his skin color?

Gore- He's a loser. He had no personality to begin with, he's made a poor impression on a lot of people, and although he won before the supreme court overturned it, he beat Bush by what .0001% of the vote? Impressive!

Is this the Democrats can do?
That's pathetic unless they figure this time around is an easy win and are assuming that they will need a real candidate for 2012.
