onToday’s USA Today credits the Seattle Times with breaking the news about the Seattle Sonics/Storm owners giving $1.1 million to set up and fund Gary Bauer’s anti-gay marriage group.
That’s funny, because when the Seattle Times wrote about this story, they gave credit where credit was due, citing The Stranger for the scoop.
They Back Sonics, Not Gay Marriage On Politics By David Postman On Politics The Seattle Times’ chief political reporterSome of the new owners of the Sonics and the Storm are major financial backers of a national anti-gay-marriage group.
At The Stranger’s blog, Josh Feit got that tip Sunday night and followed it up Monday by confirming that Aubrey McClendon and Tom Ward—principals in the ownership team—donated to Americans United to Preserve Marriage.
We’ve dinged the Seattle Times plenty of times for failing to give credit. So here’s a belated thanks to Postman and the Times for crediting us on the Sonics story. Now if only those dopes at USA Today knew how to read…

Well, duh. Did you check the byline on that USA Today piece? The article is written by John Ritter. And he's way dead! So how could he know any better?
Actual credit? Yeah, right, the MSM is so not going to actually admit the truth ...
I have to admit, getting us to fund anti-gay hate groups and our own discrimination through Sonics and Storm ticket purchases is pretty devious.
Tell your friends...
I am not sure I would even want McPaper crediting me with saving Baby Jesus.
something tells me there is only going to be 5 posts of outrage on this situation, because hey its the Sonics, and there will be 350 posts of rants about Dan Savage vs Garrison Kiellor.
Good work though for bringing it to our attention.
Off topic a little bit (but hell it is the Slog) Did anyone notice that Club Lagoon is advertising in the SGN? I thought that was a little ironic....
Andrew, i think the actual word you should have used was, 'moronic'....
everything you mentioned in that sentence would quantify as such...or do i mean qualify...oh, hell, i hate grammar...
and really, shouldn't it be spelled and pronounced, "Club La Goon"? or is it, le goon? le or la is confusing, too..
The original source was from the slog, which just a blog, not a real news source. Why cite some lame-o blog when you can cite a "real news source" newspaper?
Yet another example of MSM's obsessive denial of the influence of the blogosphere.
Michael Strangeways:
I wrote a letter the SGN about the advertisment they ran for the super gay friendly club "Club Lagoon". I have not heard anything yet.
