My fave fact about the Boston Tea Party: The ship is called The Beaver.
Be sure to enjoy the T while you're there. It's one of the best mass transit systems in the country.
Such a lovely city : )
Fight on, revolutionary brother!
Fight on, revolutionary brother!
Yeah, enjoy Boston. Just don't walk around on the sidewalks like your typical Seattlite does (like an oblivious retard); you'll avoid insults that way.
Hey, Boston College women's lacrosse at home vs. Harvard on Wednesday the 7th. Start drinking Harpoons at noon....
My knowledge of the Boston Massacre is incomplete at best, but i seem to recall that the casualties were something like 1 person killed and 3 others got their feelings hurt. Given the recent bomb scare that paralyzed Boston i think it's safe to say they have a long, proud history of getting completely histerical about minor or even non-events.
longball @ 5:
Two seconds on Google or Wikipedia will confirm that five civilians were killed.
I think it's safe to say that you have a long, proud history of posting bullshit.
Seattle did have the Pig War.
I have been told by countless Seattlites that this war never actually started because nobody could figure out who had the right-of-way.
Seeing that picture above reminded me of the cover of 'History in the Making'. That image is depicted 'facing' another depiction of the same event. The copies of the cover I could find were small, and the SLOG spam filter doesn't like them anyway so I won't post a link. A larger version of almost the same print they used is at http://www.bostonmassacre.net/pictures/newpic2_med.htm.
Heh @7.
And we got the San Juan Islands from that war. Go USA!
Hey Ivan, Did your extensive research on wikipedia confirm my guess that 2 people did indeed get their feelings hurt? I was too busy posting bullshit to look it up myself.
It figures that @4 can call Seattlites "oblivious retards" and gets no response, but make a a joke about Bostonians and feel the wrath of the SLOG!
oh, the accent and big dicked men, of all races
very queer city
they love bc bud
must be the stress of the viaduct vote
or maybe the effects of the eclipse
all will be forgotten tomorrow
seattle folks are not oblivious, just OK spacey/mellow
@7:
Just for clarification, "The Pig War" didn't actually involve Seattle, it was strictly an Islander affair.
However, Seattle DID have the The General Strike of 1919, sort of an early 20th Century WTO.
The truth: He's visiting Hair Club for Men.
We also had an honest-to-God shooting war, "The Battle of Seattle", in which several Indian tribes attacked the then-tiny settlement in 1856, but were driven back by the US Marines in the harbor. Two whites died, and an unknown but substantial number of Indians (some claim 28; others claim more).
Longball -- Just let Josh digest his cruller, ya Redcoat.
Josh: Get your sorry ass back here. Sound Transit wants voter approval of neverending taxes in November. Start pimping it. And tell Erica not to use the phrase "neverending taxes." That stung last time.
