That f'ing Knut song makes me want to rip my eardrums out with rusty tweezers. But isn't he cute?!

Knut is even cuter than baby turtles.

He is so cute. Kinda that cute little animal that grows up and rips you apart for destroying his natural habitat.

nope, not a hoax. i kind of wish it was. here's the story:

knut (pronounced k'noot) was rejected by his mother in the zoo. some environmentalist says something to the extent of "well if you want him to grow up without other polar bears, you might as well kill him right now. the biggest german tabloid then turns it into a massive cover story: "environmentalist wants to kill knut!" with lots of fluffy pictures of cute being cute (see above video). nation goes crazy, berlin zoo overrun by visitors, old panda lady allegedly dies from stress.

Wow, Andreas, that's a really silly story.

well, i did say allegedly about the last part, it turned out the old panda lady died from constipation. but it made headlines too.

Posted by Andreas | March 29, 2007 12:06 PM

I know "how", but still, how do you die from constipation?

Posted by sniggles | March 29, 2007 12:11 PM

Someone told me once that polar bears are the only bear that will hunt you.

What is *old panda lady* ?

Posted by K X One | March 29, 2007 4:36 PM

Oh, and the song is almost as cute as Knut!

It convinced me that German can indeed be a beautiful language too...

12- I think he means old female panda. They thought the panda at the zoo died from too much attention, and then it turned out to be just constipation. Hooray, I guess!

Posted by Ari Spool | March 29, 2007 4:44 PM

Oh crap!

Posted by K X One | March 29, 2007 4:45 PM

Seriously though, that shouldn't have happened. In hospitals we monitor such things and take corrective action. One would think that the same should happen in zoos, especially with such rare, difficult to breed and notoriously finicky varmits as pandas.

Bummer it bit the dust. That musta been a real pain in the ass! OK I stop now!

Posted by K X One | March 29, 2007 4:48 PM

According to what I've read, the panda died because some toxins couldn't leave the body the way they're supposed to, so she technically died of blood poisining caused by sever constipation...
