Happens all the time. Usually on the Bainbridge run, though... not as many walk-ons up in Kingston.

One of the worst panics I've ever been in was the day we discovered that you could, in fact, run the battery flat on your car by running the radio and the heater on a cold day while waiting first in line for the Southworth ferry. The boat was in the dock, the car wouldn't start. It took a jump though, the quickest jump you ever saw, and miraculously started up again a second time at the other end. Whew!

I remember some poor guy in an old Beetle at the end of a ferry line on Whidbey Island. He couldn't get it to start until they were throwing off the lines and raising the ramp. He wheedled the little thing down there as fast as it could go, but the guard rail went down just as he already hopelessly pulled up.

Near the end of the video Peter Buck is reading a book. In an interview I read once, he said it was "Memoirs of the Ford Administration" by John Updike. It was such a non-sequiter sort of thing. Just when I'm wrapped in the 'overcoming depression' thing of the video and song, he comes off mentioning a book with adultery as prominent theme.
