The greatest thing in today's news is the long-awaited realistic assessment of the Central Library in the PI.
A description of one room serves to describe the entire building: "But once the exhilaration subsides, the truth emerges: The room is badly designed and cheesily detailed."

That's weird, there was a big article a couple of days ago in the PI or Times. It ripped so bad on the library. I call a big bullshit on that. My only complaint is that the piano rooms are always occupied.

It was harsh in the wrong places. I actually think the book spiral is very successful. But the common spaces he criticized deserve even more than he gave them. He did at least touch on the main defects, though: the ridiculous noise carry, the asinine lack of egress, the wasted space, the deliberate harshness of everything, the bizarre level of psychological discomfort. He could have ripped the trendy acid colors more, which are already outdated. And the laughable signage. The building is in essence totalitarian and anti-human.
