OMG! Not the ERA!!! That means unisex bathrooms, frizzy hair, and ill-fitted pantsuits for all!!! They'll perform abortions on demand at your neighborhood church!!! They'll make you listen to Janis Ian albums!!!
....and don't get me started on the forced lesbianism, socialistic daycares, and witchcraft!!!
(Needless to say, I'm kidding. But that's the sort of thing we heard the last time they tried to pass the ERA, so I'm sure they'll just dust them off and bring them out again)
BTW, did anyone see that one of the women in that much-discussed NY Times article about sexual assault in the military lied about her record? She was never sent to Iraq.

Not that this necessarily invalidates the premise of the article in general, mind you, but it kind of suggests the NYT still needs to check out its sources more carefully.
Wow. If I were British, I'd totally vote Tory next year.
There's some problems with that beef study: there was no tracking of how much beef was actually eaten, just a reliance on later recall by the women, which is bound to be faulty; and in any case, it shows correlation, not causation, because they couldn't control for other factors that might have contributed (women who were avoiding beef may have had a lifestyle that was healthier in other ways). But if it's true, I say: more hormone-laced beef for pregnant women! There are too damn many people on the planet as it is. It may take a couple of generations, but a globe full of men with "sub-fertile" (not infertile) sperm would be a good thing.
“We cannot give up,” Mr. McCain said, “just as we are starting to turn things around in Iraq.”
