Regardless who runs or Cathy Allen annoints with her wand, it will likely be only more of the same, and that is a real disappointment when considering the intellect and capabilities wondering the streets of this town.

I will say, the job must be absolutely brain numbing. About 85% of it is dealing with land use issues.

1. At any given time, Cathy Allen has a half dozen Council staffers that either worked for her previously or managed campaigns that she was involved with. So, seeing her with a staffer means pretty much nothing.

2. Two names in the Cathy Allen list: Jesse Israel, formerly with the UW's Women & Democracy Leadership Institute. Mike James, former KIRO TV Anchor.

I fail to understand why people think that talking heads on TV or newsprint would make good elected officials. Just because a Jim Compton could ask good questions and look thoughtful didn't make him a good councilmember. In my experience, media members hold themselves professionally distant from policy making. I would prefer city councilmembers with active involvment in the community.
