Can you discern what trait these seven have in common (besides being badasses)?

That's true, but he's played one several times.

This tells me that atheists have as broad a range of cluefulness as any other group.

Are there any atheists who are not entertainers, I wonder?

It's not that I believe or don't believe in god, I just won't ever know until it's too late anyway so why bother worrying about it?

I don't have a problem with God - it's Religion that I can do without

I am agnositic and not an entertainer.

I was atheist and not an entertainer, until I realized the scientific point of being agnostic (thank you Carl Sagan, RIP).

Also, what is cluefulness? =)

They've got Dan Savage listed as an agnostic. Is that true?

It's hard to believe in God when you're too busy worshiping yourself

Chumbawamba are atheists? That's it... I'm throwing my bible away.

That's the best photo of Keanu Reeves ever. Yeah, he's pretty monosyllabic, but a nice guy.

I'd take him over freakin' jerk Mel Gibson any day of the week.

I'm one too! We are everywhere.

When I first saw this my guess was they have all done sensitive portrayals of gay characters OR that they all voted no on a new elevated viaduct.

I DO have a problem with God, a big one. It's religion I like; godless religion would be ideal. It would be nice to get together with the neighbors once a week and have a nice sit down and a chat, maybe some comforting, meaningless rituals, in a beautiful building. Charming. Unfortunately the only people who show up are the God-botherers, who ruin the whole fun.

Cluefulness is the state of having a clue. David Cross has a clue, Keanu Reeves does not, and if you gave him one he'd throw it away or eat it or something.

If it's good enough for Keanu, it's good enough for me.

Fnarf: We have exactly what you speak of. Its called happy hour or bar time. Some people go once a week, others all the time. Some people only go during the high bar holidays of New Years, St. Patricks Day, and Halloween. The buildings aren't always beautiful, but there are great meaningless rituals and bonding between friends and strangers. ;)

Hey, wow, celebrity endorsements.

That's... awesome.

Good work, guys. Feel less insecure about your choice knowing the cool people agree with you?

i've heard it said that materialism is the greatest superstition of our age--perhaps any age. it might surprise the world to know that i frankly couldn't agree more. unless i could, in which case i would. HOZANNAH!

did i spell that right?

It's not the same, Monique. There's never been a bar as beautiful as La Ste. Chappelle in Paris. Though the Philharmonic in Liverpool comes pretty close.

And there's no bar in Seattle that comes within a hundred miles of the kind of thing I mean. Bars in Seattle are solely for young people to get as fucked up as possible as rapidly as possible in, and then wander around punching each other and having their dog come over and lick you or shit on your shoe, with crappy antique rock music playing too loudly and horrible smells coming from every corner.

Mind you, as far as churches go I'm talking out of my ass. I haven't actually been in a church, except for tourism, weddings and funerals, in twenty years, and haven't attended a proper service in more than thirty.

The Chapel is the bar for you, then. During happy hour on, say, a Thursday: not too many annoying young people.

Steve Wozniak gave me my bed. I had been sleeping on the floor of my apartment for like a a year and a half. Agnostic or whatever, Steve is fucking wonderful. Whatever you are implying is absolutely incorrect according to Scripture.

Fnarf, you would definitely benefit from reading Bethany Clement's column. There are many bars/pubs that are pleasant and fun and contain none of the crowd of which you speak. (Not naming names for fear of who might think of invading my favorite haunts.)

Stick to nice, low-profile neighborhood places on a weeknight and you'll be fine. Most of the crowd you speak of only goes out on Friday and Saturday nights.

That's the nice thing about a city; it's big enough for all of us.
