Ow! My Red Eye!

posted by on March 20 at 10:35 AM

After watching clips of FOX News’ 1/2 Hour News Hour I thought I’d been witness to the absolute nadir of “edgy political comedy.” Unfortunately, I was wrong. Behold! FOX News’ other political comedy show, Red Eye. At least the title makes sense, since FOX News has been fucking honest political discourse in the ass for years.

Insult upon injury: The show features a snarky “ombudsman” who weighs in throughout the show. It may be time to relieve A. Birch Steen of his duties; if FOX News is doing it, the idea has officially jumped the shark.

Bradley, I hope you break it to A. Birch Steen as gently as possible. I reckon your the best man to do so.

I kept waiting to laugh. Gotta love how nobody actually DENIED the "Elton John will turn you gay" thing.

And what's up with the typography? Did the producer do it on his kid's computer?

Everyone on that show should be beaten. It's like all of the members of the Republican Club from college decided to go on public access and try to be funny.

This reminds me of watching the Daily Buzz on channel 11 in the morning. It really isn't too much different, I'd say equally awful.

That's not really on FOX, right?

Comedy has to be true to be funny. Conservatives can be funny - O'Rourke is sometimes, when he's going after liberal pieties, and I hated myself for laughing at Bush in the debates with Kerry when he was genuinely surprised to hear he owned a lumber mill "Want some wood?" but that was funny because he WAS surprised (the rich fuck). But this is dishonest. = Not funny.
