Had The Stranger not cooperated in the convenient lie that "the Viaduct must be replaced," the Rebuild would have lost even bigger because people would have seen yet another alternative.
For my liking, 45% for the Rebuild is too high.
David @ 1
What the fuck are you talking about. Have you ever read The Stranger?
More like "Hell, no!" and "Ehhh."
You'd think all that money spent against the viaduct would've bought a better result.
These are the early results. Generally the more successful a campaign the more it wins in the later returns. If the Surface folks have been as successful as I hope the elevated should lose by a bit more.
what happened to the liveslogging?
Licata's delusional...

But Seattle City Councilman Nick Licata, who supports rebuilding the viaduct, called the 44.5 percent vote "a pretty solid base for elevated."
"It will definitely keep it alive," he said.
Our Sloggers went to the official par-tay at the Edgewater -- where Mayor Gridlock's crew is hanging, as the kids say -- and there's no damn Wifi at the Edgewater. Our folks are now on their way over to the Spitfire, where there is Wifi.
Congrats, Carrie. First they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you... well, for now you keep fighting. But congrats to Carrie and the PWC.
I agree, #3.
I could understand a 70/30 split on the fucking viaduct, but on a tunnel? At least the tunnel is a goddamned improvement
This town is filled with hicks.
Here is some info for y'all
AS of yesterday about 117,000 ballots had been received with about 30k more expected. For those following the HSD and SSD elections they were at 13k and 130, yes 130, respectively.
The 8:30 post was the last and only viaduct one for today. Future updates will be daily at 4:30. There may be an HSD and SD post later.
Which means the elevated viaduct will be built anyway. Safeco Field anyone?
Safeco was very narrowly defeated and there the issue may have been the tax structure. This is a 10% (as of know) margin and it is against the structure not the specifics.
@8:
Before you start calling us hicks, I suggest you check past Seattle election results.
since the ballot was advisory - the rebuild won and will go forward - screams and howls of the mortally wounded
some of these people are in love with their own shadows and need to get a clue
two options, which is the less supported by voters, tunnel
carrie moon is a winner, she is bright and intelligent, and a potential leader if she can get her own identity going separate from the nononononononononno - doom gloom doom gloom crowd
David in Wedgwood.
You disgrace a fine name.
Unfortunately the 45 percent Rebuilders vote might give the Retrofitters a presumptive leg-up over the PWCers, who ideologically have more in common with the Tunnelers (who got their ass kicked).
Is that supposed to be a good point, Cynic?
Hi Jim. You letter i received. Thanks! Photos is GREAT!!!!
