Jamie Lutton, the owner of that book store, moved into this location in 1990 from the Broadway Market. She explained to me yesterday that she is now looking for a new place to sell her books and show her cats. By her reckoning the relocation will occur along Pike. I bought this book from her business: I...

I'm confused..your map seems to show that the copier place is being built on, not her place. Or am I mis-reading this map?

I like Twice Sold Tales, but am unfortunately, allergic to cats and can't spend time there. How is her University District location doing?

Thank God some much-needed gentrification is finally comming to that corner of Broadway. Perhaps we can push out all the drug-addled bums and the alt-weekly-reading hipsters and finally give Capitol hill back to the rich people to whom it rightly belongs.

That shop always did smell revoltingly of cat shit. And the books are in terrible condition. It's in a long tradition of musty used bookstores on Broadway. I have much better luck at Third Place, partly because I never go anywhere near Broadway unless I can help it.

if you don't like it, go to the design review meetings & make your displeasure known early & often. insist on a portion being dedicated to "workforce" housing - that's you & me, the not-rich.

The light rail station is planned for Nagle and Denny, and will require the demolition of the brick building occupied by Vivace Coffee. This was alternative that was least-liked (by huge margins) by the public in general at ST meetings. It was eventually adopted for cost reasons. It was the favorite option of Broadway businesses.

I don't think Twice Sold Tales will make the future edition of "Vanishing Seattle" (http://www.miscmedia.com/vanishing/vanishingindex.html)

although Beauty and the Books did - Ahh, the memories... discovering literature, coming across their porn section in the basement when I was a kid. Too bad it came tumbling down. They had cats too, but I don't recall it stinking.

I was always put off by Twice Sold Tales' apparent anti-customer attitude - huge list of "stupid questions", garbage can with sign that says "complaints." Jokes, I know (or half-jokes) but they didn't exactly make me a loyal customer. Still, it will suck to have to move all those books when the time comes - I know cause I moved recently.

If you've been following along with Sound Transit's plans you'd know they intend to demolish everything on the East Side of Broadway North of the Funeral Home and South of John.

No doubt development rights above the station and entrances will be given to favored local developers on very attractive terms.

The good news is Jamie has a lot of friends and will hopefully be able to find another decent space on Capitol Hill.
