Oh my G-d, what about offering women housing, food assistance, jobs with materity leave, school tutition, child care... My friends who have had abortions did it mostly because they didn't have money to afford a child or support from family/friends.

From the get-ready-for-the-next-war dept:
15 British Servicemen were captured by Iran, partially as a retaliation for the US taking Iranian diplomats earlier this year.

This is right on the eve of the Security Council vote to expand sanctions against Iran as punishment for their nuclear program.

Isn't $500 enough to raise a baby?

See there is no reason that Britian needs to jump the gun. They use great tack and assess the situation and angles before they make assuptions. The Iranians didn't kidnap them. They did not harm them. They just pissed them off a little but no harm done right.
On the other hand if this was American Sailors most likely our reaction would be "thats an act of war" "those damned terroists" and "those sailors are hostages lets go git those mofos"
Its amazing that we seemed to have flip flopped roles and we are the Brits of old. Divide and conquer.
Its sad how we lost that hero vibe after the fall of Germany and are now seen as overreactionaries and every thing we do is a fucking mistake. In a sense we have the right intentions , but the way we go about it is just to trigger happy. Not cool.
You don't see Britian sending in James Bond 007 too stear up trouble in iran now do you. I think that they can handle this with honor and respect for the other guy to get those sailors home in no time.
Hopefully in our future we can do the same without Declaring War over something like this.

Good catch Gabriel, makes you wonder.

Hey, did NYC get the pothole idea from a Seattle artist?

Why don't they use the tissue from "the aborted" to fill potholes in NYC?

Waste not want not.

sounds like extreme recycling to me!!! combine right wing fanatacism and left wing ennironmentalism...the NEW new world order.

imagine all the weeping xtians driving their god mobiles down the freeway with tears streaming down their pious faces....soon to be a major motion picture directed by Mel Gibson...

Starring Mark Wahlberg: "The Aborted"

clear a space on your mantle marky mark!!

Wow, read the comments on the article about Guatemalan adoptions (the baby market link). I know it's a Catholic paper so it's to be expected that the anti-abortionists would be out in force, but jeez!

I'm also going to start using 'abortuary' now. Heh.

Actually, the $500 is for women who agree to give up their babies for adoption. I'm sure that, not including taking time off of work for maternity leave, pregnancy costs a lot more than $500.

If that Texas legislator really wanted to save the unborn, he'd allow women to sell their babies, instead of letting adoption agencies pocket all of the thousands of dollars couples pay for an adoption.

I'd rather have my remains be recycled than buried in a hole in the ground to decompose (that can be considered recycling, but I hear modern burials aren't very good for the ground). However, pot holes aren't very glamourous, I'd rather go into some building cement or bricks or something.
