Gonzales will surely go. Alastair Campbell, Blair's old PR guru, had a rule of thumb that if such a furor dominated the media for a fortnight, somebody would have to go. Of course, in Britain people are removed for much less serious transgressions than in the US. I'd up the limit to 3-4 weeks at current exchange rates. Having said that, how long did it take for Rumsfeld to be fired?

Beck's comments are insane, as are those of his radio producer from the same segment. They are the clearest textbook examples of how mysognists react to strong, confident women: calling them strident, grating bitches.

Beck is such a witless dipshit. Though CNN has never been very good, it seems like right-leaning populist blowhards like Beck and Dobbs are increasingly the face of the franchise.

I do not think Hillary Clinton is a bitch. But I do find her voice grating at times.

Not nearly as grating as that pseudo-hillbilly currently in office, however. Hillary's, even at her screechiness, would be a vast improvement.

Re al-Qaeda changing its name to Fatah al Islam, do they really think they're gonna sneak under the radar with that snappy new moniker? Nope, I'm sure no bells will be ringing in Foggy Bottom.

They could've gone with Jimmy's Secular Adventure Club Charity or something similar. They seriously need some blue-sky thinking.

Feit, Chavez did not go on Walters and said that. According to the press release you linked it says " he has referred to" but fails to give a link or when that was said. I think it was something that was said on Venezuelan radio when Rice was in Latin America, but I cant recall the context.

Actually the Walters interview its not bad. It doesnt present Chavez as a crazy man and Walters talks about a little about the fight against poverty in Venezuela, eventhough she doesnt agree with his policies. Not bad. Im mos def watching it tonight.

You realize they don't give a fuck what you think, or what Foggy Bottom thinks, or what anyone who reads the New York Times thinks? That name resonates with Arabic-speaking Muslims, and that's their audience. In any case, al-Qaeda hasn't changed their name; they've just picked up another branch that happens to use this one. And it's a good name for recruiting and organizing, particularly in an era when the most powerful military in the world is violently colonizing a muslim country.

There is some blue-sky thinking needed, but it needs to happen in Washington.

I don't understand what would compel someone to listen to the president's voice in this age, anyway. I can't stand Dubya's fake Texas accent, so much so that I rarely encounter it.
