Sorry about the Breitbart links. They do suck. I'm trying to fix them.

What with all the scandals cropping up each week, most recently the firing of prosecutors, I sure am thankful for TMP and TMPmuckraker. It's amazing, but keeping track of all of this administration's scandals is actually difficult.

Thank you for posting the link "From a Rapt Audience, a Call to Cool the Hype" regarding global warming.

While it's undoubtably prudent to reduce CO2 emissions, a little balance on the topic is refreshing.

The Gen. Pace thing reminds me of Arlo Guthrie's classic, "Alice's Restaurant."

(Paraphrasing) "You want to know if I'm moral enough to go burn women & children?"

Whatta JO.

They better induct the Shangri-Las soon; Mary Weiss is the only surviving member left!

Kurt @ 8,
I got nothing against the Ronettes, mind you. Nor Patti "humpin' on the parking meter, leanin' on the parking meter" Smith.

Mary Weiss just released a new album. Have you heard it, Kurt?

Nothing new here. On March 24, 1993 The New York Times reported that Attorney General Janet Reno had demanded the prompt resignation of ALL United States Attorneys. The motive was widely held to be political.

@11. The scandal here isn't just firing of US Attorneys. In this situation, the fired Attorneys resisted inappropriate pressure from elected officials to stop corruption probes. For that bit of honesty and civil service, they were declared incompetent and fired.

The cleaning house in 1993 is far less troublesome precisely because it was an across the board bringing in of new staff.

Golob @ 13 is right. This is about political motivation relating to Republicans wanting to target Dems via the attorneys. Some didn't cooperate, so they got axed.

I love it when the Bush apologists have to resort to, "Clinton did it too!" when they run out of bull S. Never mind the obvious differences, what about the stink that was raised when Clinton did it? Where are all the people who raised a fuss? Or is it simply a matter of who is in the WH?

Gonzales has called a press conference for this afternoon. We can only pray that he'll heed the calls for his ouster. Not likely.

Like the article says, it's a trigger bill: "the measure would only take effect if the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision is overturned."

not to say we should be unconcerned. it's maddening that this comes up every legislative session in north dakota, but our progressive allies/reproductive rights activists are getting stronger and more vocal. so don't think north dakota will just sit idly by. ;-)

ah, i am just blabbering now.

I totally agree about the Shangri-Las. There is some great footage of them on Mary's own site: www.maryweiss.com

I also suggest anyone interested in more than Leader of the Pack and Walkin In the Sand go out and buy Myrmidons of Melodrama!

Funny how only Sammy and Michael showed up for Van Halen's introduction. They would have been the only two members of VH left off the Van Halen reunion tour. I know Eddie went into rehab yesterday. By recent pictures of him I'm wondering of his drug of choice is crystal meth.

@12 & @14 Clinton action was because prosecutors wouldn’t stop pursuing Clinton allies.

Re: GOP Voters

"For all that, the poll found that Republican voters remain largely loyal to Mr. Bush and his positions on the issues. Among Republicans, 75 percent approve of his job performance, and by overwhelming numbers they approve of his handling of foreign policy, the war in Iraq and the management of the economy.

Propelled by this Republican support, the poll registered an increase in the percentage of Americans who say they approve of Mr. Bush’s performance; it has increased to 34 percent now from 29 percent last month."

You know, there is some really valuable information reflected in this poll. Liberals tend to see the last six years as a horrific disaster that has broken our system of government, defiled our international standing and violated our society's most basic Constitutional values while the Bush economic policies are eviscerating the poor and middle class; a real sci-fi alternate timeline from hell that never should have happened.

For Republicans however, these have been boom times. The wages and net worth of the wealthy have skyrocketed, and many are now rich beyond their most feverish Halliburton/KBR fantasies. The departments in charge of enforcing the laws, like Justice and the EPA, are the ones doing the most damage and undermining them. More restrictions on abortion are in place and legislative gay bashing is the norm. They’re talking third term or asking where they can find someone exactly like Bush II. He really is their perfect candidate.

One has to wonder how much longer these mutually contradictory views can co-exist.

@19,

According to your first comment, Reno ousted those US Attorneys only slightly more than a month after she took office. Try again.

You've Gotta Be Kidding Me:

You've gotta be kidding me, right?

Even a moonbat such as yourself has to be at least marginally aware of the copius - and well-documented -differences between this situation and Clinton's quite normal actions at the beginning of his first term of office. If not, well just continue to keep your head buried up to the neck in the sand, because EVERYBODY ELSE knows what's going on by now, even if you choose to continue believing otherwise.
