They're using Stumptown beans (very good and also very do-goodery, in a good way, though currently trucked up from Portland, so you'll want to offset that carbon or whatever until June, when a roastery will open on 12th and Pike) and organic milk. Also: free wi-fi, all the time. And: today only, free cookies and muffins from North Hill Bakery across the street (which is really good but should... Sounds pretty petty to say, but my life improved significantly when a coffee shop in my neighborhood opened serving Stumptown (now serving their own). Not too many places in SF really gave a shit about coffee when I moved here 7 years ago (Cafe Trieste is the only place that comes to mind).

They are. I meant that their competiton to date has been SBux and Ladro.... While Ladro is locally owned, it's a bigger and more company-oriented chain than I like to frequent.... Sbux is not even worht mentioning..... so I am happy to see a smaller business I can go to instead of Victrola. I don't need super cheery fake baristas, but someone, anyone besides the snobbery I get from that place.

And their coffee isn't that good.
