Hillary is shrill. Her voice annoys me. But I'd vote for her...
It's not sexist. But, she'd still be a better choice than any of the Reds that wants to destroy America like their comrade Bush has been doing.
Still waiting for Gore/Obama though.
I don't think I'm remotely sexist, but yeah, her voice annoys the hell outta me - like an instrument, badly played.
But fuck, if it's her versus any R on election day, I'll hand out earplugs as I drive people to the polls to vote for her.
...unless Gore gets in the race. Then I'm a Gore/Obama man too.
I never thought about her voice, but of course, now I will. Sneaky Republican bastards.
Oh and yes, everyone is being sexist. She doesn't have a particularly memorable voice, no other politician (even Barney Frank) ever gets dinged on his or her voice, but now that we have a female contender, suddenly this is a
problem. They don't like the voice because it's female. I'm sure they'd have a bone to pick with Elizabeth Dole's voice, too or any other female contender.
in most cases it is in no way sexist to not like someone's voice.
the way in which you express that notion is an entirely different manner.
so too could the reason why you do not like someone's voice.
the why and the way in which the opinion was expressed in this case appears to be sexist in nature. not only that, they want to lead the reader/listener/viewer to a certain conclusion, which is also sexist in this case.
Bush's voice is like acid in my ears. Does that make me rube-phobic?
Lots of people have complained about Lieberman's voice. But maybe they're all anti-semites?
I don't particularly like Hillary and she's not my 1st [or 2nd or 3rd] choice for the nomination, but if she does get nominated I hope like hell she wins if, for no other reason, it will be like psychically putting Rush Limbaugh's balls in a vice and crushing them.
Hillary does NOT sound like a nagging housewife. Everyone who listens to The Stephanie Miller Show (on AM 1090) knows she sounds like the martians in "Mars Attacks!"
Please let Gore run, please please please!!!!
#7: I think you nailed it. If you dislike the candidate, their voice is horrible. If you like them, you either like the voice, are neutral, or chalk up a not-so-great voice as a minor drawback.
Those whining about Hilary's voice probably wouldn't like her if she sounded like Kathleen Turner.
Voice is a minor, but legitimate consideration.
I went out for dinner last night. The waiter had the most gorgeous deep baritone voice imaginable. I thought I'd melt into my chair when he asked for my drink order. I wanted to fuck him for his voice alone.
Yes, I'm aware that this makes me a very bad man.
Is disliking Hillary's voice sexist? Depends on who the disliker is. Duh. That said, Hillary is not a very good orator.
Please, please, please, let it be Gore/Obama in '08.
Hilliary is from CHICAGO! She has a grating Chicago accent. Had she played up the Chicago thing it might have worked for her. She should have gone back to Illinois instead to NY.
I love Gore (yay environment!) but every time I hear him speak I feel sorry for him the way you feel sorry for a friend who doesn't know how bad his haircut is.
Bush's voice and cadence makes me want to smash my radio every time I hear it.
She has a typical politician's voice. Only the accent may differ.
@13 - from your lips to God's ears.
I hate Hillary's voice because it emenates from Hillary Clinton.
So I guess I'm a Hillarist.
