Whoa. Calm down. "Boy" doesn't refer to Manning. "Hoo, boy" was my reaction when I heard the news, and is something I say a lot. Manning's race did not occur to me in any way when I wrote the title.

Barnett isn't calling Manning a "Boy." She's saying "Hoo, boy" ... an expression that means ... I don't know: "oy vey" or "wow" or "holy moly" ...
It's obviously her reaction to the news that Manning, who has serious controversial baggage, threw his hat in the ring.
