That piece of garbage building is ugly and needs to be destroyed. Too bad it will be incorporated into the new hotel.

Sometimes Charles I think your just being ironic. Otherwise our tastes in architecture are very different.

Charles: I feel the same way about every shuttered Burger King location that ultimately meets its untimely demise via the wrecking ball. 10,000 tears ...

The building is striking but it is also supremely useful. Apparently that's not a concern of yours. Fortunately the people who own it disagree.

If this were the ideal city it would be closed? What the hell, dude? Parking garages are for cars to park in, regardless of how pretty you think they are.

"If this were the ideal city, the parking garage on Third and Pine would be closed and left that way, left unused, left to be just the beautiful work of architecture that it is."

I don't know why I even try and read any post by Mudede anymore.

I am more concerned with finding a way to fix the parking and traffic problems in Wallingford between I-5 and Aurora. It shouldn't take 30-45 minutes to travel that distance.

I have no problem with an aesthetically pleasing high-rise parking structure (the old Blockbuster on 45th would be a good place for one).

I am assuming this new building at 2nd & Pike will have some underground parking available, but aren't we supposed to encourage people to leave their cars at the park & rides and bus it downtown?

Cheap, Charles, cheap...Did you steal this from ARCADE magazine, a fine journal that you also edit? Andrew Phillips wrote the article, where's the credit.

I totally love this garage--but more the curved side on the north.

As I understand it, though, the developer is going to "clad" it with screens, so it won't look like this anymore. It's part of the same pseudo-"beautification" for which they kicked out Zaina from the space that used to have the hookah lounge. Bastards.

Mudede is joking, right?

He liked the Bon Marche Garage, did he? Well that explains the stack ramp (or spiral, or whatever it's called)

Sheesh, who'd a thunk it was that easy to be a "world class" architect?

Seriously, dude . . . who the fuck cares about a parking garage? Torch that anachronistic piece of shit.

How many people have been killed/committed suicide off of that garage? Time for screens, for sure!

Imagine my surprise at finding out that that no-talent hack Koolhaas likes an ugly parking garage, or that another equally untalented hack like Mudede worships him for it. The downtown library is the most non-functional, pretentious, and useless pile of crap imaginable. I'm sure it looks fine in Architecture Daily, but it SUCKS as a place to read a fucking book.

If this were the ideal local newspaper website, Mudede would write his idiot articles in his padded cell and no one would publish them.
