I watched these last night and just sat there dumbstruck. How Dustin Hoffman was able to just sit there so calmly while Lily Tomlin was going off on her dirty mouth rampage is just a mystery! This is one chick I would NOT want to get in to any kind of altercation with anywhere!

This blog is like an Andrew Sullivan archive sometimes.

Read the follow up with Lily who recently learned the videos were on youtube. She's so very cool. I would love to meet her.

Where is the follow up with Lily Tomlin located? I would love to read anything on the whole situation. It was classic watching whoever that guy was clearing everyone off of the set when Lily and director were going at it.

If you like these videos, you'll LOVE the guerrilla vid's from '9 to 5'.
Even the bluebirds leave the room.

I want to see the 9 to 5 vids. I'm convinced Lily and Jane were actually stoned for the pot scene.

I posted the link to these in the morning news comments days ago; where's the love?

My fave is in the car when Lily turns to Dustin Hoffman and screams: "SHUT THE F*&K UP!"

Um, Violet honey, could you come back here for a second?

If this was really the directors fault then the rest of the cast would have been just as upset. Why is she a hero for being a bitch and not doing her job?

alto,

If you watch the office scene, it's clear that David O Russell is being an abusive asshole. The crew just walks off the set. Lily had the guts to throw it back in his face and refuse to take that s&%t.

Hell, if the movie had included these out-takes it would have done much better at the box office.

monkey @ 8,

The new version of 9 to 5 on DVD, The Sexist, Egotistical, Lying, Hypocritical, Bigot Edition, has a "making of" featurette that clearly shows they were not stoned during the filming of that wonderful yet DARE culture shattering scene. Too bad, huh?

Boomer's right, the original links appeared on Defamer, but were DEAD DEAD DEAD by the time I got to them.

When I found the vids up n running again under new names, I posted them for others who may have missed them, and acknowledged as much in my post.

Boing.

"Oh I've killed the boss, you think they're not going to fire me for a thing like that?"

I need to get the new special edition of 9to5. But I still want to believe they were stoned because come on, around that time both Lily and Jane were big potheads.

Remember kids, as Mr. Rogers once said: It takes two "u"s to say fuck you.

Yeah, it's professionals having a tiff. It's like watching a train wreck (or mommy and daddy fighting) more than an entertaining game of one-upmanship. It's cringe inducing, like watching roommates screaming over who keeps eating all the food.

Ugh.

I act like that all the time at work. What is the problem? I don't get it....

I love actors.
Reminds me of when De Niro said something like "we get to play and imitate other people in any situation. we just make more money at it."
she had every feeling in that monet and Its amazing we all go man I've done that or my girlfriends done that and I felt just like Hoffman. But I don't have 350 million in savings and
and my scene is like a wonder for the world where they will each pay 7.50 to see.
I always liked her and Hoffman even more so now. She kept it real. and when she saw her anger she toned it down eventually. she's really a cool person.

The trip is how that girl was cowering in the corner and went out the door like the Devil was after her. I kind of felt sad for a second.
It was almost like a gun went off and she just hit the floor. And Lily was like all Wushu. hope they all kissed and made up. I feel the guys anger to as an artists but wtf. he have to react like that and attack the desk and swoop everything. Is he Bi-Polar. Is he an abuser. hmmmmm. anyway just thinking.

What I love is Isabelle Huppert throughout the first video-- staring off in space, sucking her cheeks in, examining herself in the mirror, etc. Ah, the French.
