Wocka! Wocka! Wocka! Redux

posted by on February 16 at 11:22 AM

Earlier this week I posted a clip from Fox News’ new “satirical” news show, The 1/2 Hour News Hour. The reviews from Slog commenters were not kind.

Here now is another clip, courtesy of Crooks & Liars. Warning: It made me want to punch a puppy in the face. You may have a similar reaction.

Canned laughter, fat drug addicts, annorexic she-men? Is this supposed to be funny?

I had a nightmare like this once.

They'd still be a better team than Bush and Cheney. Crazy and evil, but at least competently crazy and evil.

I wonder if conservatives feel that way I do right now when they're done watching the Daily Show or the Colbert Report. Feels that that Fox show is anti-liberals, and I feel like the comedy central shows are anti politics, media, and insanity, no matter which side it comes from. Maybe that's just my viewpoint showing through?

Wow, I thought that punching-puppy stuff was hyperbole. I feel like I just watched the devil fuck my mother. Goddamn.

Best comedic duo since Laurel and Hardy.

Okay, I'll admit, the first clip of this show (the one with the bad Barak Obama jokes) almost made me crack a smile once. Almost--it was still pretty bad. But this? This needs a new word, because "awful" just doesn't seem good enough.

Aren't Limbaugh and Coulter worried that by appearing on this mock-news program they will damage their journalistic credibility?

I kid, I kid.

You gotta admit, her snappy punchline about "killing your children" is a laff riot.

They are both disgusting little sub-humans, and it's going to be fun to watch them fall into ignominy and disgrace over the next few years. If 26% of the public supports Bush, I bet half of that supports Limbaugh.

Two of the ugliest human beings in the world promoting what is obviously going to be a steaming pile of failure...How should I react? Pity? Disgust? An explosive bowel movement?

Perhaps all three.

I recognize the fat drug addict. But who's the skinny dude?

I was hoping Rush would try to stick the cigar up Coulter's vagina, but find that Tim Hardaway was already hiding up in there. Cue laugh track.

Rush (in doped-up Anna Nicole voice) sloshily explains to Hardaway that Coulter "is reeeaaaallllly a duuuuuude". Cue drag racing noise as Hardaway scrambles out.

"That's one sweaty locker room"

They all look at the camera.

"Boing" sound effect.

Cue laugh track.

Will someone explain why Right Wing humor always includes death? Cindy S going on a rampage? The other joke (talked about on Stephanie Miller today) about planning on Carter's funneral. Yeah, say what you will about Colbert and the Daily Show but their humor is based on wit, observation and a certian amount of respect. This sh*t Fox is pumping out is just the type of humor Hitler would have enjoyed.

I don't know how many of us listen to right-wing radio, but I'll admit it's an occasional indulgence of mine. It's been really fascinating recently to listen to the unmistakable slide into desperation and madness as the country finally wakes up to what's been going on.

The most recent case-in-point has been the trotting out of arch-moron Dinesh DeSouza to all of the big shows. He goes on these incredible rants about how Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton caused 9/11, and then he goes off the rails about how 65% of the country- Democratic voters- support the taliban and want Americans to die. The conservative commentators just suck it up, but anyone can hear the bottomless desperation that's setting in as they cast about wildly for a toehold on popular opinion. It's great.

The only solace I find here is that Ann Coulter will surely get lung cancer from all that cigar smoke.

I also had forgotten that Ann Coulter is the Queen of the Living Dead, so that's nice.

I think this show has the potential to create something previously unknown in the annals of political satire: anti-humor.

Perhaps FOX's true intent is to create large enough quantities of anti-humor in the hopes it will eventually collide with the humor of Colbert, Stewart, et al, thus effectively annihiliating both together in a blinding cataclysm.

Seriously, any other explanation just smacks of complete idiocy on their part.

Which, of course I wouldn't rule out, either...

I kept waiting for it to be funny...come on...any time now...and nothing. You know its bad when the high point is watching Ann make fun of HERSELF.

I hope that FOX pumps a LOT of money into it to watch it fail

I have to ask, How many of us are going to watch this disaster just to say "WE SAW THAT SICK SHOW?" Honestly, since I am not a Neilson household, I am going to watch. And find out who is sponsoring it.....

Comte:

I could totally imagine a lab deep within the Discovery Institute working on anti-humor for just this purpose.

All praise the intelligent designer!

In Canada we have a show called
"This hour has 22 minutes"
On CBC.
Hmmm similar title! But that is where the similarity ends our show is funny.

so horrible that it seems to beg for the invention of new words to describe it.

but i also have to say that it is only slightly worse than air america on the issue of flagrant attempts to copy your opposition.
