I wish there were a passionate, unapologetic radical in the presidential race who didn't embarrass him/herself with new agey "Department of Peace" bullshit. I thought Carol Moseley Braun spoke well for the left last time. I have no problem with super-progressive Dems running as "issue candidates," but I'd rather they weren't ridiculous, a la Dennis. Lynn Woolsey, Barbara Lee, Maxine Waters, and Barney Frank would all be better standard-bearers, even if they wouldn't stand a chance at the nomination (in all likelihood).

The dude is a shameless opportunist, and is willing to blow with the wind, even on basic values like abortion and race. This is not new - see the Cleveland Plain Dealer, March 12, 2003:

"But longtime Cleveland politicians and political advisers say that when civil rights still divided Cleveland during the 1970s, Kucinich got some of his first toeholds in local politics by exploiting the city's racial prejudices. They say that while he courted white, ethnic voters on the city's West Side, he vilified black politicians, attacked their white colleagues as puppets and opposed busing for school integration."

This blew me away when I first read it. I'd thought that anyone who was all new agey and shit would be an actual, you know, liberal. Now I think he's a piece of shit, and I'll point out his NARAL and NRL ratings the next time some goddamn hippie starts waxing poetic about Kucinich.

"How many presidents have been elected straight from the House of Representatives?"

Two fewer than have been elected straight out of the Senate.
