Ultimate Home Meccaover

posted by on February 7 at 9:37 AM

Man, I hate the Saudis—always oppressing women, beheading homos, and exporting their batshitcrazy brand of Islam all over the world—but I love what those crazy motherfuckers do with interior design.

Every surface in that room, every last inch, is covered in marble, crystal, and bad, bad taste. Look at the furniture! You just have to gape in amazement and admiration. I mean, if you have all the money in the world and atrocious taste then you might as well just fucking go for it, right?

But someone needs to tell King Abdullah that dying your goatee is a pretty fucking gay thing to do.

This bears more than a passing resemblance to our Grandparents' various homes (on the Savage side). That's why you hate the Saudis, they remind you of your roots.

Reminds me of the mansion Steve Martin lived in in "The Jerk." Hideous, tacky place owned by a Saudi. There was a clamshell bathtub, for crying out loud.

I think he hates them for their active exporting of anti-American Wahhabi madrassas that create al-Qaeda, their role in providing 99 percent of the funding for al-Qaeda, and their destruction of democracy. But hey, bill, if you like them so much go sign up to attack our soldiers.

@Will in Seattle:

Oh, please. If you'd seen the places I'm referring to, where Dan and my Grandparents lived when we were kids, you'd get the fucking joke.

Wealthy people always have the worst taste.

Dude, I spent the ages from 11 to 22 in the boonies of the Rocky Mountains up in BC - I know darned well what you mean. And from 2 to 10 I lived in PA, and had many relatives in Easton, as well as NJ and NY (Old Greenwich). Sarcasm doesn't translate well onto the web.

What MoTown said...
Money can't buy you taste.

They should jazz it up with some wood paneling. Maybe a chair rail too.

I personally love ruby-encrusted golden spitoons, although the emerald-encrusted ones are pretty cool too.

There's a fairly new shop in Northgate Mall that is full of this kind of stuff. They might be Saudis, I don't know. Realistically painted statuettes of maidens riding dolphins, faux-Greek columns, that sort of thing.

Please. That's nothing compared to Donald Trump's penthouse.
