“Paedophile Freed for Dracula Book”

So a real-life predator gets released from jail for becoming an expert on a fictional predator?

An American historian jailed in Romania for paedophile offences has been released more than two years early because he wrote a book about Dracula.

According to the law, Kurt Treptow was entitled to early release because his writing counted as work in prison.

And his sentence for abusing two girls—aged 10 and 13—was only seven years? And you let him out early?

What’s with you, Romania?

I went to Bucharest once because my brother married a Romanian. The first thing they told us was: "Don't walk down the street by yourself because the packs of wild dogs will eat you."

Uh, it's Romania. I'm surprised there are any laws against screwing kids there...

I have a Romanian coworker. He hates his crazy wife, has no upper teeth, and most of his stories involve prostitutes in the mother country. Not that this is related to pedophile/fictional historians; I'm just sharing cultural experiences.

Their pedophile and rabid dog problems aside, all the Romanians I know are extremely nice, they will party forever, and they're still struggling to recover from 25 years of a fucked-up dictator. And also young Romanian priests are hot.

It's fucking Romania. Have you ever read anything regarding Romania that indicates it's a good place to raise children? Let's see. There were the horrific orphanages. And after the fall of the USSR, Roma children were automatically institutionalized from birth, since it was assumed that all Roma children had to be retarded.

A little googling reveals that the age of consent is 14 in Romania. So this is not only a fucked-up Romania story, but also a stupid criminal story. He could've halved his sentence by waiting another year.
