Umbrellas of Cherbourg! What an amazing thrill that is! The prettiest film ever made! And the music! I recently watched the companion piece Young Girls of Rochefort and was blown away by that as well. Beyonce can suck it, I'll take Catherine Deneuve any day and twice on Sundays.

Yeah, I'm actually seeing Umbrellas tonight, since I've never ever seen it on film.

How is the ending the corniest possible? I can think of a much more pat ending, one that any Hollywood studio would have forced on that film.

varda matured alot over the years. check out "the gleaners" from...2000 or so. so much better than "cleo" IMO.
