Cameron is a moron. These ossuaries are almost certainly forgeries, just like the one from a few years ago that was supposedly Jesus's brother. You don't have to be a Kristian Kook to know that there is an entire industry in Israel and surrounding areas devoted to creating antiquities and selling them to gullible idiots from the West. It's been going on for hundreds of years, and it's really ramped up since the vacuous bestseller Da Vinci's Code came out. You couldn't find a better customer for this garbage, which actually damages or destroys real artifacts to create the fakes, than a big-time Hollywood numbskull.

No, it's not about the oil. We could have bought all the damn oil we wanted from these scumbags, and the other scumbags we've been buying from all along, without going to war. The war is actually hurting oil deliveries.

The war is about hubris and grandiose dreams. Say whatever you want about Wolfowitz and company, they're stone cold sincere.

Dear Josh Feit and Co.,

Re: The Case of the Missing Coverage of Equality Day 2007

I was in Olympia yesterday for the rally and meetings with our legislators to urge them to pass the domestic partnership, marriage equality, and comprehensive sex ed bills.

I'm no expert on crowd control, but I'd say there were maybe 1500 to 2000 people on the steps of the Capitol, plus 8 "Christian" protestors screaming that we're ah-gonna fry in hay-ell, and yet I can't find a single word about it on Slog or either of the dailies.

One of my reps mentioned that they've received thousands of e-mails against these bills and nearly zero in favor.

I was talking to my mailman today, and he was genuinely surprised that my partner and I can't get married. If we expect our reps and senators to pass these bills, a little positive news coverage would be helpful.

Thanks ; )

Comment by Mike in MO

fnarf> I disagree. Iraq was about oil, but the important factor here is that the neo cons underestmated the aftermath. They figured we'd go in, "be greeted as liberators," set up all their friends with the vast oil fields, and American hegemony would continue into through the 21 century.

That's why monkey boy bush has such a confused look all the time. you can read it on his stupid face: "they told be we'd be pumping oil by now? Where'd we go wrong?"

@9,10 - yeah, you are right. The problem is they care nothing about how it would have been CHEAPER and created more US jobs by having just spent the wasted hundreds of billions for Iraq in literally building US manufactured/maintained/operated wind farms, solar cells, tidal power, geothermal, etc.

The Red Bushies don't grok economics, just spin.

Fnarf and Mike in MO are both right. The Bush administration started this war to install a U.S.-friendly, nominally democratic (probably meaning a country that has elections that always manage to turn out the same) government in the Middle East. Why would they bother doing it if it weren't for the oil?

Besides, it isn't enough for these guys to buy the oil. They want to control its price and make obscene profits.
