"Meanwhile, another contestant from San Antonio, facemaker Ashlyn Carr, was reportedly arrested in August for pouring sugar into the gas tank of her ex-boyfriend's car while a student at Sam Houston State University, according to a report in The Houstonian Online."

HAHAHAHA. She shares the same criminal record as the Easter Bunny.

Never mind this, Dan. I have a more urgent question:

What makes Andrew Sullivan a "Friend of Slog" and Daniel Schorr an "enemy of Slog?"

Well, Andrew Sullivan is a friend of Slog. And Schorr was on Nixon's enemies list--and, hey, if he's good enough for Nixon's enemies list, he's good enough for our enemies list.

Unbelievable. I can't believe the drug hysteria this country still suffers from. When are we going to stop fucking up people's lives for posession of a substance that many, many Americans use? I find it remarkable that a person who is known to drink alcohol on their free time is not judged, gets to keep their job, etc., while if it was pot they'd go to jail, possibly lose their job, and suffer public scruitiny. It makes me sick and sad.

it's just another way to keep american idol in the news and on the minds of the gen pop. the music industry is full of dopers, druggies, and drunks for good reason. american idol is putting forth a false sense of "morality," as if the program is credible.

it is starmaking at its worst, a gigantic marketing scheme with too much power. it represents everything bad about the entertainment business.

i hate american idol more than any recent pop culture phenomenon. it makes the whole boy band era seem quaint, by comparison.

not to change the subject, but my fave quote of the boy band era was Justin Timberlake referencing the Beatles as being the first boy band. fucking amazing. fucking stupid.

okay, back to the program, i hate AI too, however, the freak show of auditions can be well worth watching.

Actually, American Idol has become more important than the presidential election to most people anyway.

American Idol is the worst thing to happen to pop music ever. It's sex, drugs, and rock and roll. By endorsing Clay Aiken, they're divorcing rock and roll from sex, and by enforcing dumbass rules like this, they're divorcing it from drugs. Really, what the hell is the point of becoming a rock star if you can't bang groupies til your dick falls off, and snort drugs til you look like Keith Richards? Rock and roll is the devil's music, and we should damn well embrace that.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you all still watch it.

American Idol: a parade of idiots, produced by idots, for the consumption of idiots.

Admittedly I did watch the Seattle episode and slogged along with Schmader and Co., but i am dumber for it.

It's a TV show OK? Whatever.

We'll just add this to the list of reasons why I don't watch this waste of time show. You want another reason...

Taylor Hicks: American Idol?

Seems like the best possible thing to hope for from this show is to be in 3rd or 4th place and get kicked off so you don't have to worry about suffering under an AI contract.

Someone want to adjust Paula "hick-up" Abdul's stick? She's starting to fall over.
