Check out this NSFW poster for the movie Hostel 2.
Because it’s no longer enough for a woman to be merely scantily clad and headless—now she’s got to be naked, decapitated, and holding her own head, too!
And speaking of subtle, here’s the plot of the new Samuel L. Jackson vehicle, Black Snake Moan: Town tramp played by a newly emaciated Christina Ricci (“used by just about every man in the phone book,” according to this helpful synopsis) winds up half-naked on the side of the road; God-fearing dude named Lazarus (!!), wisely seeing the potential in the poor, used-up wretch, (‘cause he’s poor, and, you know, black!) takes her home and chains her to the radiator to make her recognize the error of her slutting ways; town tramp resists at first, but eventually comes to see that the Wise Old Black Man was right; God rewards him for his good deed by sending him someone new to love.

I'm thrilled that this seems to be rising as the year of unadulterated trash advertising campaigns. I just hope the movies are something close to being trashy enough to justify them.
I'm betting they won't be.
How can it be? It's another zillion-dollar Hollywood epic. Even the dirt will be customized grain by grain, possibly CGI.
perhaps ECB can enlighten us with what is an acceptable movie we can look forward to. Perhaps she is lobbying to get "who killed the electric car" back into local theaters...

If you hate this you, I recommend avoiding Grind House (my pick for Best Picture 2007).

I really can't believe this exists. I'm not sure where to start - perhaps Christina's perpetual lack of pants? - but now I've got the subject for my Master's thesis!
I don't know about the movie, but the soundtrack's killer.
First, Samuel L. Jackson did a movie about snakes on a plane; and now, he does this.
The money must surely be pretty good. But how many movies such as this can he make before he has no credibility anymore as an actor?
I'm sorry -- no credibility as an /actor?/ No credibility as a guy willing to pretend to be other people because he's pretended to be an other person in a terrible movie? How many movies has Samuel L. Jackson been in? Have all of them been good? How many have been trashy? How many times has he been a pimp or a gangster? For pete's sake!
Also much love for Faster Pussycat! There is not a single redeemable person in that movie but all three of the women are badasses.

I saw a trailer for this on TV last night and it's getting high praise for critics. I'll reserve my judgment for when it comes out. It is nice to see Christina rid of the baby fat.
We saw the trailer for Black Snake Moan before Children of Men came on, and I could barely think of anything else during the movie. It was the most fucked up, blatantly sexist thing I've seen in a while. And the darn thing was played like a comedy! (half nekkid girl tries to run, is jerked back by chain and falls on her ass! hilarity insues!)My boyfriend, bless his soul, wants to believe that it's a case of not knowing how to market such a film. I'm more realistic than that.
if the only comment that comes to mind for you right now is 'it is nice to see christina rid of the baby fat'- please don't come back and give us your opinion when you do see the movie.

Number 1 - I don't plan on seeing the movie.
Number 2 - The baby fat comment was a joke.
Number 3 - I will exercise my first amendment rights whenever the hell I want. People say shit on Slog all the time that I don't agree with or think repugnant, but I've never told any of them to shut up. Not even you.

People need to relax and enjoy it. this is not the newest shockingest movie to come out of hollywood either. Man are we that full of anxiety when a Blackman can act or be near a half naked white women. Have we not overcome our fears.
Rotten Tomatoes has better Reviews I would go there for a judgement call on this film. It is art that is put forth very well. It may be there to spook your taboo thinking , so do a lot of other films... except those other films have to be all sensitive visually which make them suck. This ditches the sentimental crap, for raw , edgy, deep southern Blues philosophizin and is basically a modern day fairy tale reprisenting real emotions and, attitudes , and yes white girls can be half nude next to Black men in a movie, without it seeming like they are being pimped in the storyline. This movie breaks that stereotype, and if it doesn't then america hasn't gotten over those taboo fears like it should. Read the plotlines, see the reviews at Rotten tomatoes, and open your minds. This is nitty gritty theater in the vain of Streetcar named Desire and like Liz Taylor, Christina is going to be awesome playing a role like that. Sorry she's not playing a goody goody nurse for your wishes, good people.
That said theres still going to be a shitstorm caused by this film, which is a shame.
