Or We Can Do It the Hardaway

posted by on February 15 at 18:03 PM

Slog tipper Shane brought this Hardaway blog item (“Tim Hardaway: Moron”) on Sports Illustrated’s website to our attention. Says Shane…

The article is fine, but not that interesting, but the comments? WOW. Most folks (admittedly a sample set of sports fans—ugh) are totally with Hardaway. I was getting more and more depressed reading the comments until suddenly I realized I was nearly laughing out loud. These people couldn’t be funnier if they were trying to be. My favorite has to be…
“It’s interesting that people who love homosexuality are okay, but people who hate it are a “moron.” I guess tolerance is a one-way street.”

HA HA HA HA! Or this one…

“Hardaway is right! Homosexuality shouldn’t be in the world! Ever read the Bible?”

Wait, it gets better, this one…

“Name-calling and intolerance of intolerance does not constitute a tenable position, and it should never constitute an article.”

Hamanahmana—wha?

Anyway, while depressed to see such a startling example of the rampant gay hatred in the proletatiet, I am simultaneously relieved that it seems to reside in the dullest of minds.

Dan,

Here's a reason to love at least one Sonic. Regarding Amechi's coming out, Earl Watson said, "In our society, religion, politics and race have been the big topics and now sexuality is up there and for some guys, they're educated on the subjects, but in honesty most guys don't think about these things on a daily basis. And that's true for most people, not just [basketball players]. Most guys will tell you that they just want to win games and anybody who can help them do that is cool. I don't really care what guys do off the court. That's the same thing with anybody. Whatever they do in their personal life, you just want respect from anyone. It could be from someone who's straight, gay or whatever."

The poor, put-upon conservatives. Always such whiny victims. They just recently got enough grey matter together to use the "I guess tolerance is a one-way street.” line, but boy do they use it.

Retards.

I enjoy that one anon. poster said, "I didn't see "hatred" is Hardaway's response. It may not have been worded in a politically correct manner, but I do agree that he is entitled to his opinion."
Pardon me? There's no "hatred" in saying "It should'nt be in the world?" Uhhh, I thought it went without saying that language that implies extermination of a population of people was, you know, hateful or something.
And using the word "hate" (I hate gay people) is ... NOT? hateful?
Wow.

...and as a fellow Bruin I'd like to point out that Earl Watson is a GRADUATE of UCLA (BA, History). It's amazing what a little education can do for a man...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets a kick out of reading the rantings of the knuckle draggers.

Also, lmo @ Catalina...

I do too Mike. It's the only thing that keeps me from becoming just like them.

Damnit lester, now I have to like Earl Watson. I fondly recall jumping on the 80 yr old bleachers in The Pit in unison with 9000 other idiots to make the backboard shake during a close game against UCLA (side note: I LOVE The Pit)... to his credit, Earl was the first one that season to figure out that he could refuse to take his free throws until the refs made us stop.

I would love to show Hardaway photos of black men who were victims of lynching to demonstrate the end result of encouraging hatred. Look at his statement and substitute "black" for "gay".... now imagine the debacle if that had come out of a white athletes mouth. Fuck that stupid crackhead ape, ooopps, I guess that's racist, which unlike homophobia is not allowed.

Who said anything against tolerating morons? If we didn't tolerate morons, the world would be a very violent place.
The bible is full of incest that goes unpunished, usually involving a drunken father. This is whence one derives one's moral covictions? Hmmm. I guess it is. Never mind. Score that one for the white trash bible loving baby-sister fuckers.
Let's look at the final quote from a Kantian perspective. If everyone were tolerant of intolerance, then, oh wait, then eveyone would be tolerant. So where did intolerance go. (I guess it went to the white trash bible loving baby-sister fuckers.)

Hardaway deserves to live in Alabama circa 1940.

I love that they bust out 'We have freedom of speech in this country!' as it criticizing Hardaway's weapons-grade retardation somehow threatens the First Amendment.
I thought that we all knew the difference between a columnist criticizing speech and the government attempting to suppress it, but I guess I haven't been hanging out with the Foxed set enough to know that this is apparently still a matter of confusion.

Most kids stopped caring who was gay or straight over ten years ago. What the fuck is wrong with Hardaway?

Oh my god . . .

Tim Hardaway's comments were spot on. Straight males need to stop apologizing to gay people and need to stand up. WE are the maority, and thus we decide whats right and wrong. Im tired of the homosexualization of this country. Homosexuality is not right, and should not be respected or tolerated.

Wha - The - Fu?

If you didn't laugh you'd cry, I guess.

“It’s interesting that people who love homosexuality are okay, but people who hate it are a “moron.” I guess tolerance is a one-way street.”

That line is almost Oscar Wildean. Talk about irony.

Remember that these Hardaway fans vote.

Keep that in mind in making predictions about election outcomes.

I suspect a percentage of these people comprise the "silent majority" of people who vote but "avoid politics."

That's what makes this even more depressing.

So, how many complete strangers did Tim Hardaway fuck the lights out of, possibly two or three at a time, when he was a player? NBA ballers are the biggest fuck-pigs on the planet. Remember Wilt and his statistically-improbable 10,000 women? Remember Kobe Bryant and his "I wasn't raping her, she likes it when I beat the shit out of her"? So who's telling whom what's immoral and not?

On the plus side, on "Inside the NBA" last night Charles Barkley, Kenny Anderson and Reggie Miller unequivocally and repeatedly condemned what Hardaway said. Barkeley said it was one of the dumbest things he ever heard and added that "if anybody thinks he's never played with gay teammates, he is sadly mistaken." All three made the point that it was particularly stupid for an African-American athlete to take a bigoted stance towards others.

It was good to see.

Fuck you, Jane Doe, Hardaway's stupidity doesn't give you an excuse to be a racist cunt. Not that you needed an excuse.
