Not only did NBA commissioner David Stern cancel Tim Hardaway’s promotional events —originally scheduled (pre-homophobic freak out) for all-star weekend—but during the game itself, Miami Heat center Shaquille O’Neal kissed Houston star Tracy McGrady after O’Neal slam dunked in the first quarter.

And the O’Neal/McGrady kiss came a day after former NBA star Charles Barkley kissed NBA ref Dick Bavetta on the mouth after the pair squared off in a race in yet another all-star weekend promo event.

Sorry. Up late.

Wouldn't it be great if the NBA replaced the NFL as the sports-world hotbed of homoeroticism? That would freak out some squares.

5: cool, yes, but i wouldn't go so far as to say the nba is making a "statement."

josh, it's a misleading to say sir charles kissed bavetta--it was clearly a case of bavetta planting one on barkley, who didn't see it coming. (what i didn't see coming? old man bavetta DIVING to the finish line trying to beat barkley--amazing.) the shaq/tmac kiss was on the cheek and nothing special, just like all of shaq's botched dunk attempts.

best thing about all-star weekend? GILBERT dunking off the trampoline and through the legs during a break. and kevin garnett's block on dwayne wade.

and for the record, amare should've been mvp.
