Miranda July is the most over-rated, self-indulgent, self-important, immature, boring performer /writer / indie hipster I have had the displeasure to encounter since moving to the NW. WhY do you folks love her so?

It's not just the NW, Cannes gave her an award too.

The first 'of' in "The Script of Which She Is Already in the Process of Polishing" is incorrect. Remove it and you got yourself a sentence. You're welcome.

I'm concerned that all her movies from here on out are going to be essentially the same, like too many indie filmmakers who can't break out of their first film mold. See reference: Burns, Edward; Solondz, Todd; Anderson, Wes.

Given that her next film won't go through the Sundance cookie factory, I predict it will be much more bizarre and equally interesting. If you've seen any of her short films, it's hard to believe that Me and You will be repeated. That said, all of her work is obsessed with the same themes (including such esoterica as blobs and infant sexuality), and that won't change.

Dearest Annie: Don't worry. I pester MJ with emails every 6 months. She wrote in October to say that her small run at The Kitchen was just a workshop for a movie script.

I don't understand how you can like Miranda July and hate Little Miss Sunshine with a firey passion. Yeah, they're both trite, but at least LMS had some heart and isn't just a bunch of pretentious art school bullshit. I couldn't even finish "You and everyone like you" or whatever it was called. It SHOULD have been called "Look How Indie I am." Gah, that movie makes me madder every time I think about it.

@9: And you didn't email me?!

@10: I don't like Miranda July; I LOVE Miranda July. And I love Miranda July because of her art show at Tom Landowski; her shorts Atlanta, Nest of Tens, The Amateurist, and Getting Stronger Everyday; her performance pieces Love Diamond and Swan Tool; her short stories; and, oh yeah, Me and You and Everyone We Know. Furthermore, I don't hate Little Miss Sunshine with a fiery passion. I didn't think it should win an Academy Award, but it's an okay little by-the-numbers movie.
